Spiral Ride Counters?

I have heard several hints or tricks when countering the spiral ride, with person on top either trying a half or underhook at the same time, just wanting to get some more ideas or tips?

Pray that the wrestler was not trained by Gene Mills. If he was it could be a long day. I have never seen a Tennessee high school wrestler that knew how to do the whole Mills series properly.

THERE IS A MOVE CALLED A "CHANGE OVER" TAUGHT BY GRAY SIMONS THAT WILL STOP THE SPIRAL RIDE. THIS MOVE IS USES A SET-OUT TO THE OPPISTE HIP AND COME BACK THE SAME POSITION FACEING THE OPPISITE DIRECTION. THE MAIN USE IS TO CHANGE YOUR OPPONENT FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER.

IF HE DOES NOT FOLLOW YOU AND CHANGE TO THE OTHERSIDE THEN YOU ARE FREE.

Thanks WV! By the way it was great to see you and yours this weekend, what a great kid!

CBG, please expand on your mills series statement!

Gene Mills (2X NCAA Champion @ 118 & Olympian) has a series that he teaches off the spiral ride that most people refer to as the Mills Half Series. Mills teaches various tilts and pinning combinations based on what the bottom man does. Unlike most people Gene takes what the bottom man gives him and does not force anything. It is a great series but somewhat complicated and must be part of ones drill and practice routine.

Gene does clinics and camps around the country and is very good. However, if you feel that Randy Lewis is a party animal and has confidence you have never meet "Mean Gene The Pinning Machine"
