Just for fun I have penciled in some match ups for the Tournament

Class AAA

Bartlett vs. Riverdale

Greeneville vs. Mt. Juliet

Wilson Central vs. Millington

Oak Ridge vs. Shelbyville

Class AA

Gatlinburg-Pittman vs. Harpeth

Livingston vs. Westview

Austin-East vs. Lipscomb

Upperman vs. Jackson North Side

Class A

Richland vs. Trinity Christian

Oliver Springs vs. Clarkrange

Gleason vs. Summertown

Cloudland vs. Red Boiling

I know its ALL Premature. And needless to say I know I'll be lucky to have half of them right. But at least it gives you an idea of the match-ups.

Its getting closer and closer. Can't wait till the Tourneys begin.

I have a dumb question. Is substate out of the mix now? Did they do away with it? I ask because on the bracket it's saying region runner up.

The substate winners go into those slots in the bracket.

The winners of region 6A #1 vs region 5A #2 and region 8A #1 vs region 7A #2 play March 7th at 11:00 AM in Murfreesboro.

Still 8 teams, just takes a minute to figure it out. Example the WINNER of region 1 vs 2 is in one bracket, while the other Winner of region 1 vs 2 is in the other bracket. This is what gives you the 1st round and whose bracket you might fall in possibilities.

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
