QUOTE(R.U.R. @ Apr 30 2007 - 08:22 AM) 826448171man bearden has a great home schedule this year...farragut, maryville, SD, webb, i'm sure there are others i'm forgetting. it is also more beneficial to bearden to have home games because the size/width of their field plays so well into the style and gameplan.

Last year they played every one of those games on the road. When you play the schedule Bearden plays, you're bound to have some tough games at home where you can take advantage of the home field.

QUOTE(uniden @ Apr 30 2007 - 12:11 PM) 826448325preseason was a long time ago

I agree. Longdonsliver17 thats the second time you have brought up the Webb South Doyle preseason game. It doesn't matter what happened in preseason. Webb lost almost all of their preseason games and they are undefeated now. That being said they probally won't be after Tuesday. They got lucky to come out with a win agianst catholic. catholic dominated the game. They won't get that lukcy agianst bearden.

QUOTE(longdonsilver17 @ Apr 30 2007 - 10:08 AM) 826448321bearden destroys webb. SD tied webb in the preseason after out posessing and keeping the ball on webbs defensive half for most of the one half game. if there was more time i could see SD have taking the win. and due to recent performance against bearden im positive this will be a no contest

Webb is a very good team, and I wouldn't put a preseason game as a measuring tool. I would say both Webb and Bearden play the most physical (not dirty, mind you, but hard) game in Knoxville, so I would imagine it will be a battle. If Bearden can play the effective counter attack off of Walker's punts, I say that Bearden takes this one. If Webb can shut down the counter, and figure out how to penetrate Bearden's defense effectively on the wings, I say Webb will take it, but only on a good finish... (Walker is dominant in goal)

I know there are a lot of "ifs", but I could see it going either way.

Big G,

Great perspective! I agree with you completely, but I think considering all the "ifs", Bearden takes it.

preseason doesn't matter...and i'm almost sure the only time you have seen webb play an actual game was when doyle scrimmaged them in 20 min. jamboree. also, you have only seen bearden play when they beat doyle. webb was missing cia merril during jamboree too...not sure it mattered. i do think bearden will take the win though...by 2 goals

i'm going to have to agree to disagree with you on this one. marvin for webb is an extremely dirty player. but attacking bearden from the flanks is definitely accurate. you just have to make sure you don't get stunk into their gameplan of longballs.

Only south doyle kids would care about preseason results they are on here bashing webb when really they should take time out to get better because they got spanked by bearden. Living in the pre season is great ifs thats what you think matters, worry about your games and then talk about other teams.

actually R.U.R is from south-doyle and he just stated that the preseason doesn't matter so please don't make generalizations like that about "south-doyle kids". Also, I can assure you south-doyle is only worried about themselves and they're doing whatever it takes to come back strong before tournament time.

QUOTE(rigger101 @ Apr 29 2007 - 10:20 PM) 826448059This must have been started by a Webb head.

How can it be the battle for Knoxville title when Webb does not play Farragut?

Webb tied CAK so even if they beat Bearden, I would say you can't claim the title.

They have a KIL Championship in wrestling, maybe you need one for Soccer!

Webb would be happy to play faragut, but the admirals are scared of another game like 2 years ago so they will not accept the challenge. and also, bearden beat faragut, so really it can be the knox title. But anyways, i say webb contests walker's punts and will sneak one by him and take it in a close 1-0 match.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
