QUOTE(OnThePitch @ May 10 2007 - 01:07 PM) 826456538Blackman is a good team and well coached, But Cookeville has the edge in desire this year.

Cookeville 2-1

Desire can only take you so far. Blackman is an incredibly talented team and will show that tonight. I have no doubt it will be a well played game but look for the Blaze to finally show up to play.

QUOTE(thenextjatoree @ May 10 2007 - 06:18 PM) 826456689lets remember the facts....last time blackman showed up to play...oh yeah haha cookeville beat them and ended their season

Blackman 1 - Cookeville 0,

Great Game. Hoepfully both teams will meet in district, then maybe the finals at state, and that will show what a tough district it is. Hopefully the two teams won't beat each other up like the SEC does, so they can continue thier great play through the region and state. This rivalry is definitely making both teams better. Great sportsmanship thoughout the game, even though both teams were physical.

Normally I would let bygones be bygones, but in this game there was a rather egregious display of poor sportsmanship/lack of class on the part of Blackman's #11, whose name, if i'm not mistaken, is Justin Cronin. Shortly before halftime, Cronin let fly with some ethnic slurs directed at Cookeville's #34, a Bosnian refugee; minus a few choice words, "Go back to Bosnia." Sure, trash talking exists in the sport. But what took place is uncalled for--even FIFA had players recite anti-racism manifestoes prior to World Cup matches last summer. Some sort of action to discourage this sort of behavior in the future would be nice; had the perpetrator been a Cookeville player, well, he would have been booted from the team.

What was classy was the meeting of the two teams' captains at the half to resolve the manner through calm discussion and good sportsmanship.

Blackman played well, and they won the game by winning 50/50 balls. Hopefully the two squads will face off again in the Region final.

They actually stopped the clock twice up on the unofficial score board, so they were pretty close. Actually, the blackman parents had to tell them to restart the clock, because they didn't restart it on one of the injuries. That's why he made the announcment that the official time is being kept on the field, which is why he/she should have never stopped the clock in the first place, which would have drove the Blackman parents crazy if it went down to 2 minutes, and added time was around 4. So, it actually worked out well. My watch ended and according to my watch he added was 4 min 25 secs. I think the time was done correctly.

If this happened, I can tell you on behalf of Blackman Parents and Players that is not we are about, and I appologize on behalf of all of us. The past two years have not been the best of sportsmanship by our players, but those players have gone and not only have the players for Blackman this year worked very hard in the off season, during the season, they have strived themselves to show a lot of respect on the pitch this year and I believe they have accomplished this. Again, if he said anything of that nature, we appologize. I am sure this post will get back to Coach Vice and he will address the player.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
