QUOTE(redforever @ May 16 2007 - 05:42 PM) 826460477[/snapback]Shelbyville's shortstop this year was just a freshman. She hit one out in Tullahoma against Jones in regular season and hit another out in their district tournament game against Coffee Co. In the Coffee Co. game she was 3 for 3 against Meeks and then hit one that easily cleared the center field fence against Swann in the 7th inning to tie up the game. She also played solid defense at short. Her last name is Lamb.

O.K., here is an updated list thus far of the "Up and Comers"...who are basically ALREADY THERE.

Now, this list is starting to take shape. If we can get some input from Middle and West Tennessee (as well as continued input from the EAST)...we can begin to start seeing the big picture of young players in the state.

Her name is Shelby Lamb and she is a freshman this year. Shelbyville only had 2 seniors this year and they didn't play all season due to injuries. We have our whole starting team back next year including both of our pitchers. These girls really started coming together in their last few games so they should be a big threat next year.

There are many young players who played in the Regionals, Sub-State & State Tournament that is concluding very soon.

Could anyone name some of these returning players so we can keep an eye on 'em next year? I am certain there are some excellent players out there that nobody has heard of. WE WANT TO HEAR OF 'EM !

Jefferson County High School had a very talented young team this year. Started 2 seniors, 2 juniors, 1 sophmore, and 4 freshman. Junior short stop Laura Potts has extemely good movement and even better hands ( all tournament, all conferance) Junior catcher Cayla Hyde is great catcher but her stick is her best asset, while she had no home runs she batted near or over .500 for the season. Sophmore Rachel Tucker good outfielder and developing good slapper, Freshman Halie Nelson excellent out fielder and stick, could potientialy make college roster on speed alone. (Tiny Day all tournament, All tournament, All conferance) Freshman Heather West excellent 1st base had a disapointing year by her standards, but anyone who knows her true ability knows she may end up the only Div 1 prospect on this team (6'0 tall arm like a cannon and a great stick) Jessie Smith Freshman solid outfield and solid stick probably led team in RBI's Freshman Tori Hill 1st pitcher to make your list. Could possibly be one of the best freshman pitchers in the state 13-5 record as varsity starter as Freshman only losses to M. West(2) M.East(2) and Unicoi(1) ( all conferance, All tournament). Next years freshman may be as talented as this years with three potiential starters coming in.

No. Don't have a complete list. Jefferson County girls were presented sometime last week. Jennifer Turley(Senior) and Halie Nelson(Freshman) 1st team all conferance. Laura Potts (Junior) and Tori Hill (Freshman) 2nd team all conferance. I don't know how to find out the complete list, but if you find out something please post it.

Dickson played Freshman Julianna Bass at second base, Freshman Kayla Edwards in the outfield and saw some pitching time, Freshman Lauren Keele at shortstop, Freshman Megan Kilgore pitched in regulare rotation, Freshman Brooke Jenkins at first, Freshman Ashley Ford was used as a DP for most of the year. While Freshman Cat Petty was a pinch runner as well as a rotating starter.

They are only losing two starters from the 2007 season - so the hopes are high for the 2008 Lady Cougar Season.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
