Baylor wins 1-0 on a beautiful goal by Tina Groves @ the 14:00 minute mark in the first half. The ball had popped to an open space at about the 20 and Tina raced to the ball and did a nifty turn and shoot; the result was the ball went into the left upper 90 with considerable pace. Notre Dame had many chances of their own in the first half but Taylor Davidson was positioned to make the plays when need be. The second half had a torrid pace to it as ND kept on the attack. Carey Leiper and Kris Cambron were getting a lot of thru balls from Darcy Brannen and Daniel Ciabattone and were turning these balls into effective runs on goal. Taylor D made some great saves on net as well as Brooke Biddell for the Irish. Sarah Gawthrop, Kamisha Woodfine and Tina Groves aslo made a lot of runs on the Irish defense. These two teams were like a heavyweight fighters, you were looking to see who would be standing at the end of the night. There were at least 6 or 7 attacks on the Baylor defense in the last 10 minutes of the game but ND could not get a ball into the net. Both teams defense believed in the bend but don't break motto as both defenses were put to the test tonight and played extremely well. This is one of the best high school games that I have witnessed. From top to bottom all the girls played with skill, heart and class. Both teams and schools should be most proud of the girls the way the played tonight as this was an example of great high school soccer. Best of luck to Baylor the rest of the season.

It was an awesome game! It's weird to lose a game 0-1, yet feel ok about it. Both teams had their opportunities, and Baylor converted on one of theirs.

I especially enjoyed seeing the girls from both teams giving each other hugs after the game and the combined pictures....

Even the parents and the fans were well behaved....

Baylor's #1 rank in local polls was affirmed by their performance last night, and Notre Dame earned not only their close #2 spot but a new respect from this soccer fan. The Chattanooga area has many dedicated and talented soccer players and coaches representing many quality school and club teams; however, the Baylor and Notre Dame teams are two of the finest I have witnessed in many years of spectating.

With both teams having youth and depth, I already look forward to next year's match! Best of luck to Baylor and Notre Dame for the remainder of the season.

That was a great game. ND was on the defensive for most of the first half with only a couple of good scoring chances. I believe Casey Gorman was a couple of inches away from evening the score. The second half, ND really gained some momentum but couldn't convert. This was my first time seeing Baylor and, man, they were fast. It was really a great game, but the best part was seeing the kids interact with each other after the game. Obviously these girls know and have played with and against each other for years and they seem to be great friends as well as rivals. As someone else mentioned, I too am already excited about next year's game.

    • The people need our help!
    • Lol when was last time they won region or got past the 3 rd round.
    • Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
