Way to go ladies. I do believe my pal Tabitha Floyd plays on that team, and she obviously has a lot of talented teammates that I don't know as well as I know her. Tab is one of the best hitters I've ever seen, (23 homers at Motlow this year led the nation, 70-plus RBI and a batting average of .470-plus). She also happens to be a great young lady. Sorry to focus so much on just one player when there are obviously many good ones on the team. I just don't know them.

FP, did they lose a pitcher or do they just need another one?

Mike: No, we just need another pitcher to round out the

staff. You know on those hot summer days you always need

at least three pitchers to get thru those 100 degree days.

Tab was fantastic, she had two homers in the tournament,

one was a monstrous sky shot that I thought would never

come down, it was one of those Babe Ruth or Mark McGuire

bombastic types; the other was a line drive shot that cleared the trees and kept going, it must have been at least

230-240 feet on a line. Lori McCoy also hit one out that if

it had been moments later would have scattered some horses

that were grazing in the pasture behind the fence.

Come to the Challenger Express tournament in two weeks and

see more of the fireworks.

I'd like to congratulate the Challenger Express for their play last weekend. They were not only great in the field but were good competitors & sportsmen. Coaches have done a great job of getting some really good talent together. Good Luck this weekend & in the future. We look forward to watching & playing you again!

SB, thanks, and its always a pleasure to watch your Brentwood Blues on the field. They have extraordinary talent and knowledge of all areas of the game. You do a

fantastic job year after year with your girls. Looking

forward to seeing and playing y'all again. Where are y'all

at this weekend?

Thanks! Heather did a great job yesterday & has a great supporting cast. Good Luck to you if you land you another pitcher to help your staff. She really has a lot of courage. We are going to Marietta this weekend. Should be another challenge, but looking forward to the competition. I've always enjoyed playing Mike's teams in the past.

SB, good luck in Marietta. I'm sure y'all will do a good

job representing the midstate with your outstanding pitching

staff of Childress, Gore, and Allison and if you get

Natalie back to go along with your already powerful batting

order, y'all will certainly do a lot of damage.

Besides Childress and Gore, who else has signed and where to?

Thanks for the nice words about our girls. They all do their jobs and have great teamwork. They are all very hard

workers and very intelligent ball players who all played on

good teams before but did not get a lot of press or publicity, and they are not concerned about it, since every

thing has worked out for them so far, as all the graduating

seniors have signed with colleges. We're very happy and

fortunate to be part of this group.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
