  1. It might be time for Shaq to go back to umpiring full time. His Eaglettes pounded my Tullahoma girls 10-0 in five innings last night and hit three homers in the process. Jamie Johnson allowed only one hit, a first-inning single by Lady Wildcat catcher Megan Grenier. Congrats to the Eaglettes and coach Digianfelice, one of my favorite people in the world.
  2. Good to see you're back at 'em, Lucky. Should be a fun season in 8-AAA.
  3. Coach White said he had not spoken to him yet this morning, but he appeared to be OK. Great job by you guys yesterday. Good luck in the state tournament.
  4. Tullahoma Lady Wildcat shortstop Hannah Sircy signed with Motlow State a couple weeks ago. http://www.tullahomasports.com/Feature%20Stories/HannahSircySigns-8x10-1-18.html
  5. Tullahoma Wildcat coach Brad White is looking for a home game for Wednesday, May 4. Anyone interested in playing should contact coach White at 931-242-3987 or e-mail at whitebrad@k12tn.net.
  6. Anybody know who won the boys game last night?
  7. Coach Olive had some interesting comments about some of Columbia's players on his TV show Saturday morning, especially Goff. He said he was talking to a "major" recruiter a couple of weeks ago, and the subject of Goff came up. The recruiter said the biggest problem with Goff was his lack of size (meaning height). Olive said he told the recruiter people were saying the same thing about Vincent Harris out of Georgia several years ago, and he wound up getting a chance at Auburn where he became a two-time All-SEC player. He said he told the recruiter he thought Goff was the same kind of player. His size doesn't matter so much because he's just a great football player, and some D-I school should give him a chance. Olive also had high praise for the big lineman, Mason, saying he was the best the Wildcats faced this season. In addition, he said the Lions have another lineman (the name escapes me) who is "very good." Columbia is the only team this year that seemed to have the Wildcats physically whipped in the second half of their game earlier in the season. Of course, that was an entire season ago (10 games) and Tullahoma is a much better team now than they were then. The same appears true for Columbia. After sputtering at times the first half of the season, the Lions appear to be really hitting their stride. I hear the Lions are throwing the ball much better these days. On the other hand, the Wildcats can still throw it and are running it much better than they could in the earlier meeting. Should be a great one. I wish it was Friday night.
  8. I only got to see her play during Playdays, but I couldn't take my eyes off her when she was on the court. One of the best all-around high school players I've seen. Good to see she is off to a good start at Texas. I was really hoping Vanderbilt would get her, but at least she didn't go to the Lady Vols....lol
  9. If Columbia wins its fist two games, won't they be the home team in round three against whoever comes out of Tullahoma's side of the bracket?
  10. Sharpton has a shoulder separation. Won't play tonight for sure but not entirely ruled out for rest of season. Burks is starting to run but no contact. Again, won't play at Siegel but jury still out on next week. To add to the problem, Montrel Berry is having back problems and is not expected to play tonight, so the Wildcats will be down to third running back, Shaquille Harris. Derek Boles might also get some carries but he has been unable to practice this week, so who knows. A couple of linemen are also banged up but expected to play tonight. I'm sure Siegel has some injuries, too. It's that time of year. The Wildcats were very lucky most of the season with the exception of Tray Burks injury. Now, they're all coming at once.
  11. District 8-AAA Championship Tullahoma 4 Columbia 0
  12. Soddy Daisy 4 Riverdale 3 8 innings
  13. Tullahoma won game one 8-7. Columbia won game two and the championship, 4-1. Tullahoma will go to Siegel and Blackman will go to Columbia.
  14. Cody Hill, Franklin County's center fielder, made a spectacular catch in left center field to end that bases-loaded threat in the third inning. Hats off to him. You won't see many better plays at the high school level. Also, the right fielder almost made a play that good on Milleville's fly ball down the right field line. Just couldn't snag it after running forever to get there. Tullahoma didn't make spectacular plays but was rock solid on defense all night. Just a good game all the way around.
  15. District 8-AAA tried something similar to this a few years ago, and it made no more sense then than it does now. The bottom line is, you were better off losing in Friday night's opening round than you were winning. Of course, Friday night's winners had a chance to pull upsets Saturday and make the system pay off for them, but you shouldn't set up a bracket anticipating upsets. Franklin County and Lawrence County (Friday's winners) will have to play for the third day in a row and go much deeper into their pitching staff today than Friday night's losing teams, Lincoln County and Shelbyville.
  16. 4 p.m. Tullahoma vs. Blackman 6:30 p.m. Beech vs. Shelbyville
  17. Coaches meet Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in Lewisburg.
  18. You are right. At least, this is what coach White told me last night before the game, and I'm pretty sure he is on top of the situation. Columbia and Tullahoma have the byes.
  19. Anybody know last night's Shelbyville-Lawrence County score?
  20. Crazy race going on over there, Riverdaleman. I see the third and fourth teams in the standings (Oakland and Riverdale) just beat the one and two teams (Blackman and Siegel) two out of three games. How's the three-game district format working out?
  21. I heard it was a classic. Should be a warmup for the region finals, in my opinion.
  22. The way your JV hits the ball, I'd just take them on up to Cookeville for the Duff.
  23. Yep. District baseball games are Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanks for posting the schedule, and good luck to the Rebels this season. You guys have about a thousand years of coaching experience.
  24. Hey Rebel, would you please come to this thread and post the Franklin County-Lincoln County score tonight? I don't think either team has their schedule up on the site, so it will be hard to get their scores.
  25. The oldest Sheffield boy (Jordan) is a freshman this year. Justus is still in the 8th grade.
