With JC going undefeated i'm sure Coach Brown got coach of the year but who got MVP? Leonard? Dyer? Maxwell? How about 1st team anyone have that? I would say probably the girl from Monterey, Heady i think is her name and probably the tall girl from Clarkrange that walks with the ball everytime she touches it got 1st team too, who else?? Leonard got Co-mvp last year so if i had to guess it would be either her, Dyer or Maxwell with the edge going to Leonard just because she was mvp last year. Had to be one of them just not sure which one. Any info???

Here's kinda what I was thinking... Laken Leonard-MVP Coach Brown-Coach of the Year

1st team

Misti Maxwell

Courtney Dyer

Kelli Reed

Tasha Phillips

Molly Heady

2nd team

Tori Lowe

Hannah Green

Layce Colter

Lindsey Wright (I think that's #30)

Serena Snow

3rd team

Taylor Adkins

Lindsey Wright

Emily Bowman

Shannon Sleeper

Amy Anderson

More strong players: Brittany Garrett, Holli Daily, Kayla Gibson, Tess Copas, Ashton Gentry, Talica Bowman, Sierra Bean

And I'm sure I'm leaving several well deserving girls off by pure forgetfullness so throw out some ideas. Here's just a lil something to get things kicked off.

Coach of the Year was Lamar Rogers from Clarkrange.

MVP - Tasha Phillips, Clarkrange

Congrats!

If anyone has the complete list. Please post it.

What? How can Lamar Rogers get coach of the year? Are you sure this is right? Coach Brown went undefeated in the district. Not saying the Phillips girl isn't deserving but something sounds very fishy to me here. Does anyone have any info?

Does anyone have a complete list. That just dosn't add up to me.

I don't know how they voted. Could it be that the jc girls bc they are so good cancelled each other out with the voting. You have Leonard, Dyer, and Maxwell who on any given night could have hurt certain teams which in turn split the vote. Btw, Phillips is an outstanding player and well deserving.

No no she's a great player, I wasn't saying that. It's just shocking because usually if there is a player on the higher placed team that also deserves the honor then it goes to that player...kinda like Miss Basketball usually goes to whoevers team goes the farthest. And your probably right about cancelling each other out. While each one is a great player, they don't get every bit of the spotlight every night. I'm very happy for Phillips, I just hate that for the JC girls. Leonard, Dyer, and Maxwell all deserved MVP and I'm just afraid that all 3 won't land on the first team because of the need to balance things out. Oh well, they all know what they have accomplished and they're MVP's to me. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Especially the lil one. Congrats though to Phillips.

Arn't you the one who said that the Phillips girl walked everytime she touched the ball, so I would say you are saying that she isn't deserving. Keep your negative opinions to yourself. She is very deserving as was several other in the district. If you take her away from C-range it would have a worse effect on their record than if you take one of either three away from Jackson Co.. Maybe that's why you don't get a vote.

Being undefeated does not make you coach of the year. But when you beat people 50 pts, sometimes it leaves a bad taste in your mouth come voting time, and they are the ones who are voting. Might want to think about that when starters are in late in the game and your up by 20+. But who cares about coach of the Year in the district, I believe Lamar would trade it for another Gold ball. So I would say that unless Jim Brown has an incentive for getting that award, he could probably care less. My guess is that both of them are focusing on the tournament.

Your right I'm sure both coaches have better things on their minds right now, but when has Coach Brown had his starters in when up by 20? If a team is playing aggressive and he knows that just a few plays could turn the game around, then I've seen him leave in two or three starters but I have never seen him intentially run up the score on anybody. I remember a few years ago when a player threw up a last second shot from the half court line, when up by a good margin, and he chewed her up one side and down the other for showing bad sportsmanship. I have been to practically every game the last 4 years and have never seen him show bad sportsmanship.

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
