East Robertson Jamboree

I like the format of the jamboree.

1A: Jo Byrns & White House-Heritage

2A: East Robertson & Houston Co.

3A: Greenbrier & Cheatham Co.

5A: Hendersonville

It's not like a "Jamboree" where all the teams are either 1A/2A or 4A/5A. The fans who come will get to see some playoff caliber football teams at just about every level in Division I.

I agree, that would be a much better format!

Here's what The Tennessean says about ER and the rest of the alphabet soup in 2A.

Tennessean 2A Forecast

Who is the idiot who wrote this article in the Tennessean. If you look down at their prediction for semifinals, they state GP, Milan, Alcoa, and CPA. Only one from GP and CPA district will be playing there, that means at least one would be knocked out during the quarterfinals or before. They could throw up that new 2A format, but that means GP, CPA, and Milan would all three represent the west. Sorry I'm not a math teacher, but there is only two teams that could play in the west portion of the semifinals.

Not true. Goodpasture & DCA were in the semifinals last year. They are also both in the same region.

There are two middle school games followed by four varsity games. I clicked on the link for the tennessean article. Im kind of surpirsed that FRA was picked fourth over East Robertson, i believe a little private school bias is to blame. I think picking that region is impossible this year. GP, DCA, and CPA all lost 15+ starters each! I dont think GP is gauranteed the region title. I will be in attendence for this jamboree reporting. Looks to be a great slate of games. I will reply to this thread letting everyone know how it went if you are not able to attend. Good luck to all teams.

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
