Before I begin my report on the match, I have to report with great sadness that Page Coach Mindy Stone was relieved of her duties shortly before the match began. I asked a Page administrator after the match for the official reason and it involved taking a coaches' test for non-faculty coaches within a certain time period and apparently former Coach Stone did not. This was a shock for the players, parents, and myself so our win tonight was bittersweet. Assistant Coach Karen Boots has assumed the responsibilties and did a great job considering the situation.

The Page Lady Patriots took on cross-town rivals Franklin Lady Rebels coached by former Page Middle Coach Kim Miller and came out the winners 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-18). Page was led by Nicole Smith with 13 Kills, 1 Block, 3 Aces, & 1 Assist. The second leading scorers were tied with 9 pts each as Jennifer Sorensen had 2 Kills, 7 Aces, & 2 Assists and Molly Locke had 8 Kills, 1 Ace & 1 Assist. Other players getting points and/or assists were Setter Cassidy Smith with 5 Kills, 2 Aces & 18 Assists, Chelsea Rion with 5 Kills & 2 Assists, & Allie Schmidt had 2 Assists. Franklin was led by Julie Barnes with 13 Kills, 1 Block & 1 Ace. Other players with pts and/or assists were Bri Stewart with 3 Kills & 5 Blocks, Mady Burnett with 1 Kill, 2 Aces & 9 Assists, Coral Evans with 3 Kills, Kasey King with 2 Kills & 1 Assist, Sara Covington with 2 Aces & 1 Assist, Jacqueline Critchlow with 2 Kills, & Alesha Humphrey with 1 Ace & 8 Assists.

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
