Where are you getting your information on who hosts the semifinal games this year? Just curious.

Top of bracket teams (Region 1/Region 2 survivor) in odd years, Bottom of Bracket teams (Region 3/Region 4 survivor) in even - 2008 - years.

That said, I am not sure why Smyrna hosted semifinal games against Ooltewah in 2006 and then again against Bearden in 2007????

In the June 2005 TSSAA Board of Control meeting, the Board changed the football playoff bracket format. The change is minor and does not affect what teams play each other, but does affect the number of home games a team can have in the play-offs. The changes only affect the quarter-final and semi-final game locations.

For the 2005-2006 football bracket there was no change from the previous years. In 2005 the regions 1 and 5 winners would be home throughout the playoffs. In the 2006 bracket the regions 4 and 8 winners would be home throughout the playoffs.

With the bracket changes in 2007, the region 3 and 7 winners will be home throughout the playoffs, and in 2008 the region 2 and 6 winners will be home throughout the playoffs.

This change was made in order for every regional winner to be able to host all playoff games once over a four year period, where under the former playoff format only regions 1,4,5, and 8 had the ability to host all playoff games at home.

Hosting and regional winners for 2008

Region QF SF

1 Away Home

2 Home Home

3 Away Away

4 Home Away

5 Away Home

6 Home Home

7 Away Away

8 Home Away

QUOTE (BLUEMOM @ Oct 14 2008 - 07:01 PM)

The brackets are posted in the Football regulations of the TSSAA handbook on page 3 I do believe. For Class AA it was:

#1 East/Middle vs. #5 East/Middle

#2 West vs. #3 East/Middle

#2 East/Middle vs. #3 West

#1 West vs. #4 East/Middle

The higher seed will host in the first 2 rounds.

Current standings:

E/M - Ensworth, BGA, MBA, BA, McCallie

W - Briarcrest, ECS, MUS

Good Luck to all!!! Looking forward to quite a few more weeks of good football!

Predictions:

Ensworth wins out (Ryan, Warren Co, BGA)

BGA loses 2 out of last 3 (BA, WEBB, Ensworth)

MBA wins out (Ryan, McCallie)

BA wins out (BGA, Ryan)

McCallie wins 2 of 3 (Webb, Tyner, MBA)

E/M Seeds:

1) Ensworth

2) MBA

3) BA

4) BGA

5) McCallie

BCS wins 1 of 2 (MUS,ECS)

ECS wins 1 of 3 (CBHS, MUS, BCS)

MUS wins out (BCS, ECS, St Ben)

CBHS wins 1 of 2 (ECS, St Ben)

W Seeds:

1) MUS

2) BCS

3) ECS

Ergo, 1st round: (Home team first)

Ensworth vs McCallie (went to OT last time)

BCS vs BA

MBA vs ECS

MUS vs BGA
