I know there were a few local teams that went for the BIA testing, but not the tournament. Are there any results from the tournament? We really wanted to go, but our coach didnt feel like some of the boys were ready yet.

Sullivan South has a little more potential this year, they have 5 to 6 freshmen wrestlers, all with 5 to 6 years experience. This is just a 2nd year program for the High School team at South. I also know that Dobyns Bennett wasnt there either, apparently they have their testing tomorrow.

I got there really late, I had sign up for some classes for upcoming semester. I heard it was really good. Especially some of the new comers. Brett & Nease got to go against one another, Brett won. Was nice watch them two go against one another, because their both #1 their weight in the region, and Brett is #1 State its looking. I'm really looking forward to see what Brett will do this year, my best goes out to him.

I am not familiar with Nease, but I do know Usary.. Where is Nease from?

I know personally my son wanted to stick around to watch Stephen Goldstein. Good kid, great wrester.

He scrimmaged my son a few years back and I believe that match was the wake-up call for Tyler.

I heard he was wrestling 112 this year instead of 103. Either way, I look for Goldstein to have plenty of wins to put in his pocket. You dont like to see your kid lose, but when they lose to a kid like Goldstein, it makes a difference.

He was a very good sport, and seemed like I very nice kid. I wish him success.

Jeff Price seems to do a great coaching job with all of those kids.. Science Hill will have a strong team, no doubt..

Great coaching, makes for better wrestlers.

Nease goes to Crockett, he'll be wrestling 130 this year. In the practice room everyday he looks to just get better & better. He has some talent. I know of Goldstein but haven't got chance watch him wrestle any this year, hopefully I'll get the chance to this Saturday @ Preseason Tournament @ Crockett.

Lil Goldstein did look extremely tough saturday. He looked to be real smooth and confident on his feet. He also looked like he has put on some size since last year. He'll even be a pretty good size 12.

And Science hill had an ARMY at that tournament. Their wrestle-offs had to have taken two weeks judging by how many kids were in that gym! They certainly have the numbers, and it looks like they have plenty of skill to go along wih it!

I'm not too familiar with any of the other names at 135, so after seeing Brett wrestle this weekend, I say he has a great chance at bringing that third gold to the Usary household. He looked good on his feet. Looked like he was trying out different things, being early in the season. And I know he's always been tough on top.

KingGreen,

Is this Caleb? I have some pictures that I took at the King College tournament two weeks ago.

As a first post, I'll venture a guess that if GHS's King goes 12 Goldstein will run back to 3. From what I saw both of them have some size trimming to do for that to happen. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I dont see Goldstein running from anyone to get back down to 103.. I just dont see it happening.. He is too talented of a wrestler to do that.. Of couse, I dont know the "King" kid you are referring to..

    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
    • Mistakes like that should never happen.
