I think she got the team plaque. There is no doubt she is the Devil's best player, but she did not have an outstanding tournament. The awards were just for the tournament, not for the season. She can still make the all regional tournament team and I am sure she will be a first team all conference selection.

All-Conference fer-sure! There is no other Seven player who played a bigger role for her team; similar to what Alex Fuller is attempting to do at Tennessee: Sell the "Program" to her teammates.

Elizabethton has THE dominant player, Pietrowski. The Lady Cyclones also have some very good, veteran players. Unicoi County is obviously a work-in-progress. Without Ali Gardner, (IMO) they're barely a five-hundred team.

And, much of this is speculation, however:

It will be very interesting to see if, or where Ali plays in College.

I don't know whether anything's changed, but Kayla Winters said "no" early on. Perhaps college softball?

Mariah is a very attractive college prospect. No doubt, the locals are very interested, but she could decide to move further away?

Mikki Oliver is another two-sport athlete; lots of interest for both.

Brooke Johnson is considering at least four schools.

In fact, all the Cloudland seniors have, or will have offers. They're an impressive athletic/academic group.

I agree that Ali should have got something and I also thought Brittany Kinser and Ansley Ricker from South Greene had a good tournament. I really hate those awards!!!! It's a team effort and it takes a team. It was a great game. I think Rechelle Dye came to win and was not going to let anything stand in her way. Good luck to all the teams in the Reg. tournament. God Bless

KINSER AND RICKER ARE REAL GOOD PLAYERS AND THE LITTLE DYE GIRL IS LIKE OUR CAMERON MILLER SHE CAN PLAY AND MAKE THINGS HAPPEN ANYWHERE ON THE COURT. GOOD LUCK.

BY THE WAY GOD1ST I WENT BEHIND SOUTH GREENE AND PICKED UP ALL OF YOUR SPIT CUPS

Thanks, we are trying to quit but you just keep leaving your scraps behind and we can't help it. LOL

Congratulations to Cloudland, Elizabethton, and Hampton.

Three Carter County teams will play in Sub-State.

Another down-to-the-wire encounter for Hampton and North Greene; otherwise, things

went about as expected.

Very good matchups for Region One Championships:

Elizabethton and South Greene - - Part Four.

Cloudland and Hampton - - Also Part Four.

With all the big upsets tonight (Oak Ridge, Marshall County, Jackson County), this thing is wide open. I would love to see an Upper East team bring home a gold ball. I would especially like to see Cloudland, Hampton, or Elizabethton do it. If it has to be Morristown West or South Greene, I guess we will take it!

I have no idea how they stack up down the road, but the Lady Trojans bring more energy - for four full quarters - than any team we saw this season.

Sydney Goins, Megan Fanney, and Shelby May were, without a doubt, the fastest guard-trio we saw this season; so pressure is of lilttle concern. If Kelley Smith goes off from the perimeter, and we already know about Taylor Hall... then Morristown West very well could be a Gold Ball team!

And, or course, South Greene is strong and balanced.

But, I still like Elizabethton's chances for Murfreesboro. Coach Len Dugger, primarily necessitated due to early-season injuries/sickness, has created a deep club.

So, who will the Lady Highlanders be pulling for to win Region Two-A?

If you have to travel, regardless, it's just a few miles up the Ridge to Wartburg... from Oliver Springs.

Where would they rather go?

And, if the Lady Highlanders win Region One-A, then both Carter County teams will have to travel for

Sub-State. So, is there more incentive for Hampton?

Just askin'

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
