How will Pearl Cohn look this year

Pearl Cohn has a lot to look forward to this year. Now I am not saying that they will be ready to knock off David Lipscomb, MBA, BGA, or Maplewood (all teams on their schedule) but they can play with and beat East Literature and defensively if they can get pressure they can beat CPA. The Firebirds return just about everyone from a team that was very young in grade level and in football playing experience level last year. This year they have a shot of going to the playoffs. They return their quarterback and 3 of their running backs & wide receivers and on defense they will be very big and athletic. The key on offense for PC starts on their offensive line. Last year they couldn't block anyone and that's why they were so BAD at doing things. They couldn't run the ball and they put their young QBs in bad situations. When you break it down and look at the stats defensively PC wasn't terrible at all last year. They played tough for as long as they could in a lot of games before wearing down late from being out there all night. They shut down Trezevant in the opener and played flawless football on defense in the losses to Macon Co. & Sycamore (6-0 & 7-0 losses respectively). If they can block anyone and establish a way to move the football effectively then they will be back this year because they are always going to have the athletes and talent on defense to stay in ball games.

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
