I watched the Greenback squad last friday night at the Blount Co. jamboree and it was obvious they were missing some key players, I hear that most if not all will be back this Friday at Meigs can anyone confirm this? What kind of team does Meigs have this year? Any Meigs fans out there with some info?

well apparently no one in Meigs Co. owns a computer so do any of the Nation faithful have any info on Meigs?

We scrimmaged Meigs a few weeks ago......our varsity scored on it's first 3 possessions for a 3-0 lead.....Meigs only got a couple of first downs so our JV went in....the JV tied 1-1.......3 different Meigs QB's fumbled 5 or 6 snaps........they really wasn't very impressive.......good luck to you guys.....i hope you kick some tail in this one

WELL MATBACK! nice to hear from you again, thought you might have gotten lost in them carryliner hills last year golfin.Well for the Nation you are correct heard from a friend of mine last evening that they were without their first, second and third string tail backs the past two weeks in pads, not to mention preseason allstate tackle tyler dailey hasnt been in pads since spring, got him back monday also,( they say hes even more of a beast than last year),richard seymore the freshman phenom is back from an ankle injury,(if you havnt heard of him you will soon enough), best young tailback/reciever i've seen since brian hanley at Gback,we are young mostly sophomores and freshman, got some pretty good seniors besides dailey, jordan collis transfer from loudon very good player also.got three or four jrs that will play, seems like this season is going to revolve around how quick we can grow up!going over today if it dont rain to take a look,it may be one of the longer seasons weve had in a while. But this is greenback, and they will play till the whistle blows, thats a fact!

Oh yeah. The info on Meigs is a few of us DO own computers

Cool......let me know when it's your night to use one so i can check back

but we apparently would rather play a good game than type one.

Well.....when your 3a or 4a team (whatever it is) beats somebody other than a 1a team that graduated like 17 Sr.'s off it's quarter final team from last year (how far did Meigs make it??)......come back and let us know :popcorneater:

Last seasons long long gone... I'd suggest looking to the future and being a little more polite with your posts... Good luck with the rest of your season cherokees. Keep playing hard tigers!

Not to be disrespectfull, but if you all played a good game you all are in for a long year, that was as bad a game i have ever seen the Nation play.Meigs county has about as many problems as we do for a AA school.you all will be lucky to win three games again this year.and we will probably not win any!!!!!!We have got to get rid of those stupid arm bands, and just play Greenback football, that was a total embarrassment! This new coaching staff has a lot of work to do.we need top go back to the basics and just play with fundamentals.

Heard the Kees were very young. Tough on any level to lose 17 seniors. Meigs is trying to rebuild and lined up one to easiest schedules in District 5AA. I think they are playing that powerhouse from Cumberland County this week. Should be a war.

As for Greenback, they will be fine. It will take some time to get things in place. Coach Ridge will do a great job. KEEPING THE FAITH IN THE NATION!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
