"I agree with part of your view of Swett. While it's hard to expect too much of a freshman on the varsity level, people always seem to overestimate the impact these players have due to their success at AAU nationals or against middle schoolers. Swett has nice potential, but not as a point guard. She was eaten up yesterday by Clarksville guards, some of which are only 1 year older. Carpenter had to bring it up the court. It appears that Brentwood Academy is fielding a strong girls team this season. They beat Columbia and scored 80 points with four players in double figures, with one player scoring 26 points. I predict they will finish either first or second in the region this season. JPII played a weak Hunter's Lane team with only one player in double figures. Stop Bachel and you stop JPII. Harpeth Hall was beaten by Davidson Academy, so the jury is still out on that team.

 

If you have blinding speed you "might" compete with Ensworth......if not - adios!

 

 

just shows you haven't seen blinding speed. Who, besides Carpenter is quick? They have some good players, some good youth, good coach, but blinding they're not. The amount of Clarksville layups yesterday, now that was blinding.

Just shows you can't read. If you don't have speed/quickness you won't beat Ensworth...Gibson County beat them in a scrimmage earlier in the year-they did it with speed. Clarksville has size and speed but guess what....at State time they won't be seeing each other-Ensworth DIIAA opponents better have wheels.

Brentwood Academy lost to Arlington High (Memphis Area) AHS- 50 BA- 48 in double overtime.

I can read fine, even though I'm from Arkansas. By stating if you don't have blinding speed you may not compete insinuates that Ensworth does, which it doesn't. They are a solid team but they will have to prove to be above others. It's up for grabs and there will be some good games. Good luck to all.

Predictions for Div II AA East/Middle

 

 

 

1. Ensworth-until somebody proves different.

2. Brentwood Academy-this could be the sleeper of the season.

3. GPS-beat two teams easily and scored over 80 points, don't know how strong the competition was.

4. JPII-stop Bachel, early season schedule kitty weak

5. Baylor-somebody post about Baylor, what is expected.

6. Father Ryan-4-0 against Lipscomb,Stratford, St Cecilia, Portland, no heavyweights yet.

7. BGA-early games fail to impress.

8. Harpeth Hall-already lost to some weak teams.

Some recent scores in Div II AA, Ryan loses two straight, one to Ravenwood, the other in overtime to Glencliff. JPII loses two straight to Lavergne, and to Sycamore in overtime. Harpeth hall loses to ECS out of Memphis. BGA loses to Franklin. Ensworth loses to CPA in triple overtime. It seems Div II overall is a little weaker than the last two or three years. Time will tell.
