OFFICIALS AT SOUTH GREENE

Just wondering how South Greene fans feel about the officials at Friday night's game between the Rebels and Grizzlies. Rebels played a good game...beat us on the court. But the officials left much to be desired. They let the game get out of hand and refused to do what it took to get things back under control. Been watching TSSAA officials for 30+ years. Most do a great job...but these two were - without a doubt - the worst officials I've ever seen. Both teams would have been better off with no "stripes" on the floor for this game. Good game Rebels. :roflol:

Get use to this when you play the Rebels. Especially when they are the home team. Been going on for years. I hope they weren't as bad as they were when South Greene played at West Greene this year. That was the worst that I had ever seen. May have been the same crew.

Bud....these guys couldn't even do a good job calling Upward Basketball. Words can't describe how bad they were. One of the South Greene players went a good 2 feet backcourt and they didn't call it. Not trying to give South Greene any grief....they played good and hard. Won the game fair and square. Grizzlies are rebuilding and are coming on. They had 3 armed guards waiting at the door to escort them to get their pizza and go to their dressing room. I'm not trying to run down the officials. They have a tough job, even on a good night. But these two guys were two of the worst I've ever seen. Have I said that before? I'll say it again...these two guys were the two worst I've ever seen. The didn't have a clue. The game is over, and I hope none of the Greene County teams have to endure idiots like these again. Thanks to all you officials who are out there to call the game and keep things within the rules. It IS appreciated. But to you two from Friday night at South Greene....do the rest of the crews a favor and hang up the shirt and whistle. I'm not sure either of you could even be good spectators! :roflol:

Varsity games use 3 man crews, are you sure you aren't talking about the B-team officials? If it was the junior varsity game then it is not a suprise at all that they were of "upward basketball" quality because the jv guys are either brand new officials who are still learning the ropes or are the ones who don't listen to constructive criticism or work on improving enough to eventually move up to calling varsity games...if it was the varsity game maybe it was 2 "rookie" varsity refs with 1 veteran which would explain why you only complained about 2 of them...

Does anyone know how the officials did in the Greeneville/ South Greene game? Just curious, I didn't get to make it. Lady Rebels blew a big lead I heard and Reble boys beat Greeneville. Just wonder if the refs had anything to do with the outcomes?

thats some can 'o worms yer openin' there Bud!

Actually barb, I was just wondering. I've been to many Greeneville and South Greene games were both teams got the calls they needed at the right time.

I caught the 4th quarter of the boys game in person and listened to the 3rd quarter on the radio and am not sure exactly how it happened as I got there right after it went down but according to the radio there was a pretty controversial "mess up" by 2 of the 3 referees on a SG drive to the bucket. The official under the goal called a block against GHS and counted the bucket to put SG on the line for 1 shot but the trail official also had a foul on the play but he had called a charge resulting in what has come to be known as the infamous "Blarge" LoL...the officials got together and talked about the situation and subsequently wiped the bucket off, reported both fouls, and put the ball back in play at the point of interruption. Of course Coach Duncan from GHS wanted only the charge and wanted the block to be "over-ruled" and Coach Hoese from SGHS wanted the bucket and the blocking foul so he would be on the line for 1, but neither of those could happen...the referees blew this call completely but then they handled it the right way by reporting both fouls and wiping the bucket off and giving the ball back to SG. It sucks that it happened, but I have seen it happen in several college games and have even witnessed it once at the state tournament several years ago so it happens to even the most seasoned officials, which all 3 of them were considering the rivalry between the two schools....

Other than that one instance from everyone I talked to about the girls game and from what I saw of the boys game it was called as evenly as it could have been, which is good to hear because that is a game that could get out of hand very badly, very quickly! I remember the fouls were 6 to 6 in the 4th quarter when GHS started fouling to keep the clock from running out and if the first 3 quarters were like the last one then the referees let them play a little bit, but called the necessary fouls to keep the game from getting to physical and getting out of hand!

Congrats to the Lady Devils on the upset in the girls game, and congrats to the Rebel men on the upset in the mens contest!!! I can't wait for round 2 to get here as we can see now more than ever that when these 2 teams meet up it is gonna be ANYBODY's game!!!!

Billy D has made an art out of getting the calls he wants... er... needs at the right time. I wonder how long it will take for him to bully this BRAC bunch the way he did the IMAC officials.

Please...... Guru......JV plays, the ladies play, and the third game is always a varsity game. The third official pulled something early on in the game and had to leave. They were varsity officials....certainly not because of their abilities. I've watched two officials call tough games before and do a better job than these two did. It wasn't a close game, so they didn't have that pressure. They just plain couldn't/wouldn't call. South Greene should swear warrants for stealing for them both, because if they took a check for what they did, they are thieves! :thumb:
