  1. THE DEFENDER thinks the Land Air was played over Thanksgiving. The Ladies Classic bracket can be found at the link below. Until next time...DEFENDER OUT!!!!!! http://www.greenecountyfootball.com/ladiesclassic/
  2. THE DEFENDER thinks that Greeneville is still using the same officials Barb. THE DEFENDER is surprised that you didn't know that, what with all of your infinite knowledge of the game of basketball. Until next time...DEFENDER OUT!!!
  3. That is news to me as we are concentrating on playing Edgemont tomorrow in the pee wee division and the grasscutters have Cosby and are concentrating on that....Either way good luck tonight to the Tigers.... The DEFENDER thinks that "Coach" Jimbo Whaley just let the cat out of the bag on who has been spreading the rumors about a pee-wee to high school coaching change. The DEFENDER thinks that "Coach" Whaley would fail at the high school level. The DEFENDER does not think "Coach" Whaley's ego could handle losing. The DEFENDER has no connection to the PF program nor Sevier County in general, the DEFENDER heard these same rumors in another county. As far as the PF-GP game, the DEFENDER thinks GP over PF with the elder Coach Hammonds naming the score. Until next time...DEFENDER OUT!!!
  4. You my friend are an idiot with a chip on your shoulder. PRobably from the friendly confines of Cumberland Gap High School, with a chip on your shoulder because he BEAT YOUR @55. Do I smell sour grapes???
  5. The DEFENDER says, "Wow, did you really just say that"? Till next time, DEFENDER out. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  6. I've sat here for several days and read all the posts and can see the points of both sides. While I do feel officials need to be held accountable, I don't know if this is the exact forum where it needs to be done. Criticize officials all you want, but there is a right place and time...during the game, on a message board or wherever...if you're a fan. I can also see the side of the official who is upset that a fellow official, albeit a football official is calling out basketball officials on a message board. Standing on the outside looking in, with a child who is a three-sport athlete, I believe the basketball officials have a harder job than any other sport. I can see and understand points concerning some officials who don't need to be working for whatever reasons...speed of the game, fitness level, whatever and I agree with all those points. But I just don't see the point in a fellow official calling out other officials, whatever their respective sports. In my career field, we are held accountable by the public, we are continually called out by people we deal with...but...we never sell each other out, minus breaking the law, no matter what we think about someone's ability. Had the poster calling officials out never mentioned being an official, would we be having these confrontations? I think not. Just my humble opinion. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  7. Confirmed by a friend of mine who was at the game. Carter wins. Don't know exact score. Both teams struggled down the stretch with free throws.
  8. Oh Dickie V...The Defender feels that maybe you are accusing Greeneville of recruiting. The Defender does not disagree, but the Defender thinks that maybe Billy D comes to Cocke County. Why you ask Dick? Maybe...The Defender feels that Billy has strong ties to the community. The Defender feels that this may happen...people will always need kraut and ketchup. The Defender feels plenty of jobs are available at Con Agra. Till next time...Defender OUT!!!!!! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  9. Game fee for three man crew, two varsity games---$80.00. Verify through tssaa.org if you want. You must be one of those fans who sit in the stands and claim to know all. As for a player being grabbed and no foul being called...must have been a miss...it happens. To echo someone else's comments...RIDICULOUS!!!!RIDICULOUS!!!RIDICULOUS!!! /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  10. $55 and an OPEN BOOK TEST. PLEASE. Sure, you too can REGISTER to become a TSSAA official for $55 and the successful taking of an open book test. It's not like it stops there though. Dues to the local association you join, mandatory attendance of state rules meeting yearly and attendance of a minimum of 5 local association meetings. What you fail to see farmer is the fact that most officials suffer before they get to the varsity level. Two years MINIMUM of leaving work early, traveling long distances to officiate one, maybe two junior varsity games or middle school games. Then there's the $175.00 required to attend a TSSAA sanctioned officials camp at least every three years to be eligible to work post season. The time away from their families for minimal pay. All these things are very rewarding. NOT!!!!!!!!!! Let me not forget all the AAU tournaments and games during the summer...more time away from families. All this to get to work varsity high school basketball (and some new officials never get to work varsity games)...I would venture to say that MOST officials try to learn the game and officiate to the best of their ability. Realize I did say MOST. There are those out there who are what you guys describe. Just like there are bad police officers, bad salesmen, bad doctors, bad lawyers and bad accountants. Just like the careers I described above, officials are held to a standard. They're supposed to go out there, listen to all the crap they put up with, officiate basketball and all of this for the great pay of $80.00 for two varsity games. That may cover gas and help out a little at Christmas, but let's be realistic. In closing, let me say that I truly believe that most officials try to their best of their ability to officiate effectively and allow the kids to dictate the outcome within the rules of the game. Let's give them a break and realize there is a learning curve with newer officials. They are trying. And yes, I am an 11 year official of varsity HS basketball just throwing in my two cents. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  11. Hey BIGBLUE! The Defender sees that ole' 25 has reared his ugly head again trying to talk that junk about Cosby. The Defender feels that 25 has been hiding, as he was not man enough to come on the old thread and comment about the LOSS his "Dogs" suffered at the hands of the Eagles. The Defender feels that 25 may be a "fair weather" speaker of smack. The Defender feels that 25 should shut his mouth and be accountable for all the junk he was talking in the past weeks. The Defender feels that no matter what, just like the defensive master-mind BIGBLUE says, Cosby IS, HAS BEEN THIS SEASON and AT LEAST FOR THE REST OF THIS YEAR will be better than ole' 25's Hampton team. The Defender says to 25, "Accept your loss...YOU DID LOSE...and move on...Once again you are living in the past, and thinking oh...what could've been, IF ONLY we would've recovered those pooch kicks...YOU DIDN'T and you lost."Until next time...DEFENDER OUT!!!!! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  12. The Defender says travel I-40 East to exit 435, turn right off of exit. Continue until you come to a stop sign at a "T" intersection, at which time The Defender says you should turn right. After making this right, take an immediate left at the next stop sign and travel 3-4 miles to the school on the left. The Defender says the field is behind the school on "da hill" as it is affectionately known in the Cosby area. The Defender wishes you well in your travels. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  13. The Defender wonders aloud..Where, oh where, has ole 25 gone, oh where, oh where can he be????? /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. The Defender says that although Cosby won, he would suspect more from ole 25 than to not come on here and post after such a loss at the hands of the Eagles. The Defender wonders where ole 25 is now?????? The Defender thinks he probably is a little embarassed. The Defender says congratulations to the Cosby players, coaches and fans on a great win. The Defender feels that his work in this thread is done and wants to tell the Cosby coaches to enjoy Monday on the golf course...you all have earned it. The Defender says good luck to the coaches on the rest of the season and don't let BigBlue handle you on the course the way his defense handled that vaunted Hampton attack in the 2nd half Friday night. Until next time...DEFENDER OUT!!!!! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  15. Well, well, well...Where should the Defender start??? The Defender should first let all know that he was right in his prediction of a Cosby victory. The Defender feels that the word muffin should not be used on another Cosby thread for the remainder of the year...The Defender declares "Muffingate" closed. The Defender feels that Cosby issued a defeat to the Hampton Bulldogs. The Defender says "Oh, how sweet it is". The Defender feels a bit slighted by the Hampton fans...The Defender looked for muffins at the gate where they were supposed to be left as the "Hampton Few" from this thread were leaving with their tail between their legs. Now The Defender will have to venture out in this weather to retrieve his victory meal from one of the fine fast food establishments in Cocke County. To Wasp and BigBlue, the Defender simply says...CONGRATULATIONS!!! The Defender thinks both teams left it on the field and that is to be commended. The Defender is hungry and must go get a thickburger... As always...Until next time...DEFENDER OUT!!!!! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
