Halftime......

Westwood - 29

Grace Baptist - 28

Westwood again is getting production out of it's bench as Zachary Smith (6pts) & AC Nesby (9pts) have combined for 15 points...Montrezes Gary, who scorched the nets for 32 points in 22 minutes Wednesday, got a starting nod today and has contributed 6 points...Jarvis Sullivan has 7 points for the Longhorns...

For Grace Baptist, Taylor Wilson and Mr Basketball nominee Brandon Herman have 10 points apiece..Church, Rector, Nelson and Schley all have two points for the Golden Eagles...

Overall a real good first half...

Listening on the 'net...

---------------------------

Halftime:

Westwood 29 -- Grace Baptist 28

I won't be able to continue listening to this game but, there are several noteworthy things that are worth keeping an eye on:

-----------------------------------

1) Grace Baptist seems to be having a very TOUGH time dealing with Westwood's speed and defensive pressure, making a TON of turnovers as a result.

2) GB seems to be shooting (and making) a bunch of 3-pointers -- that's "Fool's Gold," especially once legs become fatigued late in the game.

3) GB seems to otherwise match up well with Westwood, especially on the boards.

4) GB's Harman has 2 fouls.

5) Westwood seems to be making their FTs so far, unlike yesterday vs Humboldt.

6) WW is having trouble pulling away from GB, despite being the recipient of numerous GB turnovers.

7) WW is also turning the ball over, but (it sounds like it's) due to sloppy play not GBs pressure.

--------------------------------------

The 2nd-half should be very interesting.

--Will GB's 3-pointers keep falling?

-- Will GB handle pressure better?

-- Will WW play less sloppy?

Sorry guys but college coaches are not looking for a kid that can just come down pass the ball and set a screen. They are looking for the athletic kids that can take someone off the dribble and get to the basket, if the kid can speed dribble to the basket and shoot they are consider to be a top prospect. These county school who suppose to be FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND TEAMS are not going to the big D1 schools. Plus they are not winning the STATE every year because when the game is on the line, all the fundamental stuff goes out the window because its all about who can get to the basket and who can shoot the basketball. So to answer your question WESTWOOD wins by 15. Thank You and I approve this message...................

Humm....

Looks like we can say score 1 for fundamental basketball....

Final....

Westwood - 53

Grace Baptist - 66

What a 4th quarter by the Golden Eagles.....

Brandon Herman led Grace with 28 points (18 in the second half)...Grace handled the Westwood pressure as well as you can expect and actually turned the tables on the Longhorns with a few steals in the 4th quarter that led to points or free throw attempts...Taylor Wilson added 12 points...Church (9pts) and Rector (9pts) had effective second halves with 7 points apiece...

For Westwood Jarvis Sullivan led the scoring with 15 points...Montrezes Gary joined him in double figure scoring with 11 points as did AC Nesby who had 11 points as well...

Grace shot 47.9% from the field which included 20% from the three point line.....They shot 18-26 69.2% on their free throws....They had 18 turn-overs and had 10 steals...

Westwood shot 33% from the field which included 20% from the three point line....They shot 50 % from the free throw line (6-12)...They had 16 turn-overs and had 12 steals...

A big stat in the game was that Grace out rebounded Westwood 40-34...

Congrats to the Grace Baptist Golden Eagles and good luck in the championship game tomorrow vs Clarksville Acd...

Congrats on a fine season goes out to the Westwood Longhorns end their season with a 24-8 record....

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
