Finally. I have been waiting on this for a long time!! It's finally football time again. CG has looked up and down all pre-season. That performance at the Conference jamboree was abysmal. They played the night before for about 2 hrs at a jamboree in Middlesboro Ky against Harlan and looked much better. But the pre-season is over. It's game time. Thank goodness. The Panthers are still relatively young in many key positions. Last time i checked I think they are starting around 4-5 sophs on offense and only 3 srs and the rest are jrs. On defense they are starting 1 freshman, 4 sophs i think and only 1 or 2 srs. So they are still a bit young. But hopefully that will help them out in the long run. As for Union Co., I know nothing about them except that they have a new coach and a few pretty good players returning from last year. It's kinda tough to gauge CG so far because they have been very inconsistent and with this one being on the road i'm a little concerned. But i think that in the end, CG will play hard and hopefully leave maynardville with a big W and get the season off to a good start! Good luck this week guys, I hope you put it to em.

I don't know if abysmal was the word, but it was bad. I also hope Cumberland Gap plays better. If they are so inconstant it might spell for a long season. Hope they get the kinks worked out. I've always liked watching CG play.

Thanks Bud, we like watchin em up here as well. It just seems like they have just enough youth and inexperience to make them be up and down. I do know they only have like 5-6 seniors, but their junior and sophomore classes are big and a lot of those kids got to play last year. So if nothing else they are gaining experience.

Definitely liked to watch Shipley. Did he go on to play at the next level? Good luck Friday night. Make the BRAC proud.

Yes, Ryan went on to play at Union College, i think as a linebacker. It was pretty fun watching him the past couple of years. CG has a new qb now that took over after Shipley's leg got broken last season. Blake Franklin. He is a sophomore this year that has many of the same tools as Ryan had, just nowhere near as big!!! From what i've seen of him (through middle school and last year) he is a good runner and passer that has a chance to be pretty good i hope! Blake has some big shoes to fill that's for sure. Thanks for the good wishes and I'm hopin to see CG at 1-0 when South Greene comes a callin' next week!!

Hard fought win for CG who pulled it out 21-16. Union Co. is much improved from last year. CG came out of the gates roaring but seemed to be very inconsistent on offense. They had a bunch of yards but not enough points on the scoreboard. Definitely the youth playing a factor in all this. The defense had a pretty good game. They look like theyve really worked hard to fix a lot of their weaknesses. Congrats to the Panthers on a hard fought win. Next up...South Greene!!!! :thumb:

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
