Maplewood and Pearl-Cohn were paid $2000 to play MBA this year.

Pearl-Cohn coach likes the idea, "its a win win"!

Is this a precedent being set or has this be going on for years?

Do you agree of disagree with this arrangement?

I'm not sure that there's anything really wrong with it. It's not like UT bringing in UT Martin as a tune-up. MBA's games with P-C and Maplewood were mentioned, and both schools have traditionally been good competition, and provided good compettiion on the night.

What's sad is the fact that both schools were confident of making more money playing away than playing at home. That wasn't always the case. Through the late'70's, both programs could fill their stadium for almost any game. The schools were part of the community. Pearl was pretty much the jewel of the black community (taking nothing away from Cameron, Meigs or Haynes, but all were newer schools by comparison, closed earlier, and never really had the consistent success of Pearl). Likewise, Maplewood filled the house from it's inception until the '80's, when it ceased to represent the Parkwood/Bordeaux areas. I'm not sure what sort of attendance either school gets at a home game now, but in my day, both schools visited MBA with big crowds. From my vantage point on the computer, I'm not sure either school brought more that 200 people to MBA, and that's a generous estimate.
