I agree, the DB's played super tonight. Siegel tested them and they really stepped up their game. GREAT JOB!

GO BLAZE!

DB's did play well but they have got to stop dropping intereptions that are gimmies. You cant give Oakland and Riverdale 2nd chances when/if they gift wrap turnovers for you.

The wr's are going to have to figure out how to get open and catch the ball. Or oakland will stack the box and it will be a long night. I know the one kid caught the td pass but the other wr's are going to hav to become a threat as well

Some games you win because of how you play and some despite of how you play. Tonight was a combination of both. One minute gooood next minute baaaad. Defense was very solid (Seigal has no game breakers, at least tonight) great job men!

Our offense other than Mathers continues to be non existent. Overall I give us a B.

Now the ugly, next three game will be a gauntlet. We will have to find some offense somewhere cause athletes and overplay will be the theme of the day.

Get rested and get healed, up next on to Oaktown! As for me I will be stalking some local water banks looking for my dang canoe. OOOO I'm hacked right now! :popcorneater:

After watching Blackman play in 5 of their 7 games this year, and with us being at Fall Break, I'll give the following comments concerning each area of the team. 5 Categories, Excellent, Great, very good, good, poor!

Defensive Line: Very Good

Inside Linebackers: Great

Outside Linebackers: Very Good and at times Great

Secondary: have gone from poor at start of season, to good and last night were very good. (Good overall score at this point in the season)

Tailback: Excellent (what else can you say)

Fullback: Great (between # 34 and no # 11, this has become a real strength of the team)

Offensive Line: Very Good, they are not dominating by any means and Mathers makes them look better than they are, but they still get after guys on every play and seem to play consistent. They are getting better!

Wide Recievers: Good or Poor depending on the night. a weak spot for sure! # 30 continues to show up consistently and has sure hands. Definitly a weak spot.

Quarterback: Poor. I hate to give any position a "Poor" and this is such a individual position, meaning only one person really plays this position, but we are really weak here. At times have looked okay, but at times very very poor. Last night was poor. Can we improve here? We have everywhere else over the year?

These are just my opinions and are not meant to reflect on coaches or kids! I've enjoyed getting back into watching highschool football over the last 3 or so years and especially Blackman. Any other thoughts from others?

BUMP! DEAD ON! You been reading my mail? As for the poorly rated position, it's hard to blame the player. It is what it is and is not likely to change. I just don't think the ability fits the demands and the ability is not going to change.

SOOOOO does the demands? There are horses for courses and our horse does not fit the course he being asked to run. :popcorneater:

Congrats on the win. I will be honest, I didn't see too much out of Siegel when we played them. Of course for us, it is a big rivalry game so sometimes you can't really judge what another team has because of high emotions and the adrenaline. If you guys had fumbles, INT's and still won handily, I would say Siegel hasn't improved that much since we played them. Because you had Watson on your sidelines, I would think Siegel would have that extra ooomph to want to beat you. That has to be extra motivation. For whatever reason, they can have talent galore and still not get to that second level over there. Playoffs once in what 8 or 9 yrs? Before someone jumps on.....was not trying to discount your win whatsoever. Sounds like the train had his way.

How will your QB react to getting intense pressure on him ?

Just a question, because i do not know, Are you saying he does not have the physical/ athletic ability to be a QB in this 6A district? (he does not look particularly fast, but that may just be because everyone else is fast at this level) Or are you talking about the ability to throw the ball on the mark? (as in the arm strength/accuracy/release/etc) Are you saying that Blackman should be running another offense with him at QB and if so, which one? I'm trying to figure out what you are saying, but the horses for courses thing got me a little confused and maybe that is the way you meant it to be???

The way I take it is that he isn't the kid for the job.

Rocky, I have enjoyed your informative posts over the years. You add so much to the T.

That's actually four questions. Basically I don't think the system plays to his strengths. I will not address any of the physical questions simply because it is what it is and that will change but it will come slowly. Personally I think there are some things we could do to maximize what is there but I'm not a coach just mykidsdad. :popcorneater:

Hey, Blackman is 6 wins and only one loss. Things can't be too bad.

Plus we have the The Mathers Factor.

I have a new name for Mr. Mathers. He will now be called by me The St. Christopher of Football. He simply takes the whole team, QB, 'O' line, coaches and fans on his shoulders, carries us and makes all of us look better than we really are. If he stays healthy, Blackman has a chance.

He's one special Dude.

Good news for mykidsdad, you don't need no stinking old canoe. We have ST. Christopher.

I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, I'm not real sure what you're asking here. However I did sit between two of MRDONKEY's old girl friends last night so I do know what you mean by intense pressure. It's a good thing I wasn't a 3 day old pimple, I'd be gone today.

But really my guess is he'll react as he has in the past. My Mama use to say "same ingredients, same biscuits." :hungry:

I hope that answers your question.

Okay! Still not sure how to exactly interpret what you are saying. I'm not very smart! But i guess we both agree on the "Poor" part.

Horrible call by an obviously idiotic official.

You know after thinking about it the delay call may have not been the worst call of the game. The worst call may have been when they called Blackman for too many players on the field when the head coach was requesting timeout from the headlinesman way before the snap. oh well...... You don't always get what you pay for. :popcorneater:

GO BLAZE!

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
