  1. You are so right Shag about # 4. He will always find a way when there is not a way! The QB looks like he has gone back to the first few games of last season and getting after him would be my strategy also. Siegel's defense is soft to though, so i say Blackman wins 28-14! How long will it take for Coach Shadowens to pull the senior QB for the backup?

I don't know this for 100% sure, so someone please confirm, who is wrestling at 145 for Blackman in the regions? is it sells or heath? and you are probably right on birdwell, is the for sure the guy to beat. but i do think Nell has a GREAT chance to beat shatterfield and i do think that Patton has a GREAT chance to beat soloman at 152lbs. @HSDAD, i don't know enough of the wrestlers to comment on all 14 weight classes, you are probably WAY more up to speed than i am (no sarcasm here at all)but I don't think ALL freshmen deal with the nerve thing at regions. When you have over 30 wins as a freshmen, you are not really a freshmen in terms of experience and dealing with big matches!

the ref said that it was because while the blackman guy was on his back locked in a cradle, he hit the mt. juliet guy in the face with his elbow. What this looked like to us was simply a kid who got locked up in a cradle and was rocking and flaling (spelling???) to get out. Maybe the back of the kids arm did hit the guy, maybe it did not, but for sure there was NO flagrant misconduct call. Flagrant misconduct calls are to be reserved for the obvious misconduct because once you make the call, it is game over for the wrestler and a 9 point swing for the team in the match. a ref does not pull this trigger easily, he does not make this call when it is not black and white, he does not make this call when there is judgement left, and in 15 seconds there was not even time for a verbal warning. The ref, i found out his name is kyle, made it about him simply because he made this call with 0.6 seconds left and there was no need to make it. the foul was not flagrant if at all, the mt. juliet kid was not hurt nor had a bloody nose nor even complaining, he had no reason to go all the way in a match that mt. juliet was going to win by 6 or 7 points, but he did, which cost blackman the whole match, cost the wrestler the season, and this ref was not thinking about the kid, and it's always about the kid. the call was just so uncecessary and was a normal attempt by a kid to fight off his back while in a cradle that we have all seen a 1000 times. i hope this helps, it is not easy to desribe all that happened in words. and, i am a guy who NEVER has posted about the ref's on coachT, i usually just take there call for what it is and move on, but this one was terribe and it cost both the team and the wrestler ALOT!

The Ref in the blackman match completly blew this call! I was working the door and things were slow so i watched this match that was on the mat close to the front doors. i was actually pretty close,2nd row, while watching and with like 12 seconds in the match the blackman kid got put in a cradle and began to rock back and forth trying to get out. with 0.6 seconds on the clock, the ref stops the match, calls a flagrant foul. this guy totally missed it. It cost blackman the match with a 9 point swing and the wrestler the season. This ref made it about him. The crowd and even the Mt. Juliet fans agreed as i talked to them. The worst call i have ever seen at a high school wrestling match!

I think Nell from Blackman challenges Shatterfield. they split during the regular season. I would not be surprised it Sells from blackman challenges for 145. I heard he is just a freshman and dropped down for regions! And, I think another freshman, the Patton kid, takes Solomon from Eagleville! Solomon beat him by 2 points early in the season but he has REALLY matured and come on strong with over 30 wins and a 4th place finish at Brentwood.
  6. Jeremiah Bryson-Smyrna-RB-CB Deon Meadows-Smyrna-LB Jess Patton-Blackman-LB/TE Hunter Thompson-Blackman-LB Buddy Mitchell-Oakland-CB Tre Fletcher-Oakland-OL Bryson McCluskey-Riverdale-OL Jaiari Dunaway-Siegel-LB These 8 young men are great reps from 7AAA!
  7. I will do some research this week and get back to you with the facts you ask for! Many, many people on Coach T have tried to tell you and other riverdale fans that the first two games would be blow outs for you, but you argued that this was not the case. So, I am doubtful the facts that i find that will support that Oakridge is yet another cupcake for Riverdale, will really make you admit that they are. Sometimes it is what it is! And what it has been and will be for Riverdale is 3 wins by 30 to 40 points. This is not Riverdale's fault or problem. You are just doing what the TSSAA asked you to do. What is difficult is the response by the Riverdale posters not accepting and admitting that there first three games are weak opponents. The past history of Oak Ridge has nothing to do with 2010!
  8. Yes you asked a question, but you also inferred that you could stop Itavious Mathers and more that one person said you could not, but you argued that you could. That is why i think he asked you the question about it working or not. If you knew football you would have known that your defense could not stop the Mr. Football of Tennessee. Your defense was too small and slow to stop a great running back like Mathers. You should have done more scouting of the opponent and mor looking at what you really have to play with on your defense, and if you had you would not even have asked the question. You might have instead made a statement that said Mathers will certainly get his. He is too good not to, and we must be able to play great with no turnovers and be able to move the ball on Blackman in the air and then maybe we would have had a chance.
  9. I'm sorry i am late posting on this game. I had to work most of the day and just got home. I have very little to say that has not already been said. Blackman is a GREAT TEAM. Offense, Defense, special Teams! Itavious Mathers continues to dominate even though Franklin lined up with 9 men in the box! The blocking is incredible! The Blackman Linebackers are the best i have seen on a team ever! There Defensive Line just owned Franklin. I felt sorry for the Quarterback! I was really surprised how small and slow Franklin was. I am not trying to be dis-respectful at all, I just expected a much different looking team. I was expecting a team that looked more like Brentwood and they were very big and very athletic. This game was over from the first whistle. I thought we were playing Lincoln County or Station Camp. This district really is the best overall district in the State of Tennessee. Others may have a great team, but we have GREAT TEAMS!
  10. I have been to 6 of the 11 Blackman games this season, so i will attempt to give you my opinion of Blackman's team. Take it for what it's worth and if someone else can add a few things, please do! 1. Mathers is at another level compared to any running back you have seen this year. He is only a junior and all of us will get to watch him on Saturday's at a big time football program. But it sounds as if you already knew this. 2. Blackman has two inside Linebackers that will also play on Saturday's at Division 1-A or Division 1-AA schools. I have heard several say they may be the best Linebacking pair in the whole state. Both are big, fast, and come to play every down. Running the ball right at them is nearly impossible and they have the speed to get to the running back from sideline to sideline. 3. Defensive Line: At my first Blackman game, i read the program and saw that all 4 of these players are seniors and they play like it. One of the many reasons Blackman's Linebackers are so good is because these 4 control the line of scrimmage and can cause havock. #34 and # 42 make big play after big play on the outside of the line and # 58 and # 55 are very tough on the inside. 4. There outside linebackers are very good too. # 21 and # 10 compliment so well the inside guys. These two will both hit you and play the pass well. # 21 has a nose for the ball as he has many interceptions. 5. Secondary: even though they are very much improved, this would be in my opinion a weakness of the defense. At times they play great and at times they don't. But they were getting better until the riverdale game! 6. Offensive Line: They are not overly big at all, but from the production of Mathers they should be considered a strength. I have noticed that they are what i would call fiesty and hardly miss assignments. In the last couple of games i've been too i have noticed that they are playing 3 tightends at times. # 25, # 44, # 42 and all of them block well. 7. Fullback: is the defensive end # 34 that i mentioned above. He is a force to be dealt with as a blocker and when they call his number as a runner. He may be the most un-heralded player on the team at his fulback position as most fulbacks are, but he paves the way for many of mather's runs, over and over. 8. Quarterback: I did see the smyrna game and he did not play well, but since then i think he has improved vastly. I was also at the Oakland game and i think his performance at the end must have given him some confidence because he has played steady and has completed the passes that he needed to-to open up things for Mathers. I can't remember if he is a junior or senior. Overall, Blackman is very solid and they play hard every down. They are beatable but it will not be easy. I would agree with what i read in the paper last week, "They are hot right now". Let's hope it stays that way! I hope this helps!
  11. I meant not before the game, but after it was played and this is very appropriate, up to a point. Meaning, "i told you we could beat them", "i told you we had a chance", etc. This is what CoachT is for! And you were right! So please enjoy the moment, but most would have picked oakland over franklin for very solid reasons! Oakland is sort of like the Dallas Cowboys. The should be in the running for the championship, but they are not. It is not a result of talent or coaching or anything else. That was my point! If you will check my past posts out, I am mainly a Blackman fan that has become more of a Blackman fan over the last 4 or 5 years since i began to go to games at Blackman when i am not traveling. Typing is not the best venue for communication because it gives so many opportunities to mis-communicate, so no offense taken!
  12. Sir, YOU cannot read! There were no excuses in my post and i was talking to the Oakland fans, not the Franklin fans! Yes we all know Franklin beat Oakland fair and square. That is a fact. We don't need to hear that again. Personally, i am glad they beat Oakland because i am a Blackman fan and i think we'll have an easier (notice sir i did not say easy) time beating you than we would have Oakland if they would have been the team we played in game 8. The whole reason i posted was to say something else is wrong over at Oakland because it is not talent, size, numbers, speed, coaching, etc. One of the most talented teams in the state who most thought would win it all, got knocked out the first round and lost the last 3 our of 4 games! MATTER OF FACT, MY POST WAS NOT EVEN ABOUT FRANKLIN VS OAKLAND! You were simply the ones to put the dagger in them for the last time. FYI: YOU GOT IT RIGHT THAT FRANKLIN WOULD BE OAKLAND. WE ALL KNOW THAT. YOU HAVE TOLD US MULTIPLE TIMES LAST NIGHT AND THIS MORNING. SO, NOW BE HUMBLE AND HUSH!
  13. The 2010 Oakland Patriot's have more talent, speed, size, than Franklin. In my opinion and i think most people's, they have better coaching in the X's n O's. Oakland should have won this game hands down. The Reason Oakland is still not in the playoffs and chasing a state title is not because of talent and coaching, it is because of ________________________________________________________________! I have my own thoughts, but someone has to be honest on here and fill in the blanks without making it personal on the young men that play! This team had it all, talent, size, speed, experience (40 SENIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!), confidence (had won state title in 08), coaching, facilites, resources, fan following. OOOOOH how the might have fallen to lose the last 3 out of the 4 games of the season.
  14. I think 2 Linebackers must be considered. Deon Meadows of Smyrna. 6' 205lbs, 4.6 forty. Pre-season all state 1st Team in 6A. 125 tackles last year as junior. D1 offers from MTSU and Arkansas and more to come. Plays in the toughest district in the state for one of top 5 teams in the state. Jess Patton of Blackman. 6'2" 215lbs. 4.65 forty. Pre-season all state 1st Team in 6A. 109 tackles and 5 sacks as a junior. D1 offers from Navy, Air Force, Princeton, Brown and more to come. Plays in toughest district in the state for one of the top 5 teams in the state. 29 ACT score. Both of these guys started as freshmen. Both are difference makers on their top rated teams. Both are leaders.
  15. No doubt Ralph King was very good and he goes to MTSU to play his football. No doubt that Mathers is very very very good and will probably go where ever he wants to go! I read in the DNJ that some defensive player for Riverdale said there goal was to hold him to 130 yards and that they were "PREPARED" for all his cutbacks and the cutback lanes. I don't think so! He ran over them like a TRAIN running over a penny! He did this on a defense that was only allowing a 109 yards rushing a game. I think the Riverdale play over estimated their ability to stop him or under estimated Mathers, or both!
  16. your post are idiotic! these are the dumbest post i've ever seen on Coach "T". You either don't believe a word of what you are saying and are just trying to get people all jacked up, or you have been drinking way to much. FYI Warning: Drinking alot while you type makes you say stuff that is really foolish! Take a nap, 2 ibprofin, eat some solid food, a couple of strong cups of coffee and THEN get back on the computer! But this is so idiotic that is is
  17. If you go to "youtube" and type in name and school, you will find highlights of meadows, patton and i think thompson. I have not been able to find highlights of Dunaway. If you scroll down to 2nd page of CoachT football 6A, a guy named Stork Montgomery has Patton's senior highlights from his first 5 games. His website is www.storkmontgomery.com and it seems he used to do video for smyrna but now does it for Blackman. Anyway, on his site you can also see junior video of Meadows and Patton. Have fun and at least admit you were "hating" a little!
  18. Mr. Curtis, is all you can do is ask questions that are negative in nature? As you can see in other post on here with the unapproved website article, this is OLD NEWS! Suggestion: Before you type your sarcastic, cynical questions, get on the internet and do about 3 minutes of research and you will not even have to get on CoachT. Most old posters on CoachT wonder of the motives of those who have 10 or 12 total post when they start to spew crazy talk!
  19. If you had seen these guys in person you would then know how foolish you look for questioning their ability. But i will still give you all i can find. i don't know these guys personally nor do i know there coaches nor am i a research expert, but i do read alot about football in TN and so i know somethings. I am not trying to make excuses for anyone, but stats have context and just trying to be informative. i don't know where to get game stats for this year. Alot of teams do not report to local newspapers defensive stats or do not keep them on their website. But i would say that in light of their stats as juniors and size and speed (see below) there stats would be very good especially in light of the context that i mentioned in my previous post. No presumptions here at all, matter of fact i said just the opposite in my previous post if you would READ what i actually wrote. My point was, don't tell me a guy with 150 tackles over 10 games at 1A football who could not even get on the field at 6A in this district 7AAA is better simply because he has more tackles. Last year, Meadows had around 125 tackles, Patton 109, Dunaway 83 and i remember reading that for all-midstate team, all state team in Tennessean. Scout.com reports that Meadows has offers from Arkansas and MTSU and ran a 4.68 forty at combine. Scout.com reports that Patton has offer from Air Force and ran a 4.67 at Furman Camp this summer and has a 29ACT. i know dunaway has been offered by UT and has committed there and that he ran a 4.55 at combine this summer. Not sure about Thompson's offers but was told he ran a 4.6 at camp this summer. Meadows listed at 6' and 205lbs. Patton at 6'2.5 and 215lbs. Dunaway at 6'1" 220lbs. Thompson at 6' and 230lbs. i would add one more LB to this elite list and that is david helton of baylor. Listed at 6'3" 215 pounds and committed to Duke! I also have read there are a couple of guys out west in the memphis area that will get D1 offers. If there are better linebackers in TN than these 5-7 guys, thin i'd like you to show me. You have a computer, do a little work for yourself instead of just "hating" on 4 of the best Linebackers in the state!
  20. what blackman person on here is considering a win against the warriors monumental? Blackman is the favorite, should win, and will win! Well i got news for your Wdad, this is not your year. Warriors should have dominated Cookville, they are not very good at all. If Cookville can score 21 on riverdale, Blackman will score 42! The only way riverdale has a chance in this one is to play way over their head like they did verses Oakland and for Blackman to lay an egg. If the Stars ran the ball down your throat, i can't wait to see what I-Train and Blackman will do. It will be HOT because the Blaze will be cooking Warrior meat!
  21. Maybe you don't get to read the news! Blackman beat Oakland 2 weeks ago and # 7 Brentwood by dominating them and only loss was to then #1 smyrna in week 3 and are about to beat riverdale. Smyrna and Blackman must be in this poll to make it even close to being right! Spend 75 cents and you'd learn alot!
  22. Stats are just a small part of how a player is judged at the high school level. The eye in the sky does not lie. That is what colleges want to see, the film sir, show me the film. If you play on a really good team like Smyrna or Blackman, your defense has not played at least 6, 7, or 8 quarters because you have been ahead by so much late in the game that the 2nd and 3rd teams are given a chance to play. That is nearly 2 full games that a LB misses to increase his stats verses a guy who plays on an average team or poor team and is on the field the whole game. Also, if you play on a really good team and are ahead early and often, the offense of your opposition begins to throw the ball instead of run it and once again your chances to build your stats decreases verses a LB that plays on a not so good team and his team gets behind on the score board so the other team begins to shut it down and run left and run right therefore it increases the chances for a guy to build or pad his stats. other things to consider: Level of play! There is alot of difference between 1A, 2A etc. verses 6A. I remember a young man a few years ago who played for Middle TN Christian at 1A and he had like a 150 tackles in one season and i don't think he could have started at LB anywhere at the 6A level. **dunaway at siegel plays outside linebacker 98% of the time and so teams often check away from him. this makes a huge difference in his stats! ** Meadows, Patton and Thompson all have to be considered when putting in an offensive game play and must often be double teamed. this makes a difference too! **Size, speed and potential skills to play at the Division 1A or 1AA level must also be considered when picking the best. All 4 of the above guys have these qualities necessary to play at the next level of 1A or 1AA. **if you play on a great team defense, you will not have as high of stats because there are other players who are also making tackles verses playing on a weak defense and you are getting so many more opportunities to pad the stats! **But my guess is all of these guys have very impressive stats, but that is such a small part of determining the best.
  23. You may would love to see him playing for MTSU, but it will NEVER happen. He is way to talented to play there. This is no slam on MTSU, but simply cold hard facts. If a young man has a choice between MTSU and the likes of an SEC Team like Georgia, Alabama, etc., they are going to choose the later 99% of the time and in this case the 1% will not become reality.
