Devin Schmidt led Sevier County in scoring (15 I think) in the opening win at home against a very good Central squad, so there can be no doubt he is a talent to watch.

That said, the tone of that post tells me someone is still a bit tender after the recent Sevier County Jamboree this past Monday, where GP dominated their quarter of play against Sevier County, as well as taking the 3 point competition and the dunking contest. This is the same GP team that Davis Sohen is good enough to start for.

It is also unfortunate that we won't get to see Sohen and Schmidt play head to head (at least this year) because Sevier County refused to schedule GP this season.

Hmmmmm . . .

Well.... I cant blame them based on what I saw from GP High School. They are very talented but imagine them without the 2 outsiders ! No whining, get who you can when you can and how you can and run with it ! Our poor team got beat by PF but we do have some good players and think we will win some games this year. Just not sure who we have that can score ! Looks like PF has another "Army" on their bench but always remember, seniority rules there. A long year for them as well with AE, GP, Carter, and Fulton. OUCH !! How will GP be after this season with the twin towers graduating or do they have more on the way ? I think the Schmidt kid can play also, so be watching out for him. How in the world did this post of top sophmore players in Northeast TN get all the way into Sevier County ? Somebody needs to look at a map !

It was me that said:

"Don't know if Gatlinburg counts as NE TN, but I would keep an eye on Davis Soehn of GP."

Seemed straightforward enough, and not all that big a stretch to put Sevier County in the mix (can't say we seem to be SE TN, and never heard anyone ask about Mid-East TN lol)

I still think its remarkable at the constant school shuffle in so many other schools over the years, but GP picks up some transfers and all heck breaks loose. Knox County trades players like most kids trade baseball cards lol.

GPs prospects for the future, while certainly diminished with the loss of this current senior class, is not all that bad. Junior Matt Hinton is turning into a beast of a 5 player. Davis Sohen (So.) and Clay Leatherwood (Fr.) have both been highly ranked in their respective classes by the now infamous "unauthorized website." Brandon Stewart (Jr.) is making great progress as a PG as well.

Looking up and down District 3AA, it seems alot of programs will be losing some key seniors after this year.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
