With so many talented qualifiers, it's hard to say who should be expected to finish at the top. Nevertheless, let's hear who you, the loyal fans and spectators (as well as team members and coaches), anticipate to win the individual tournament on both the girl's and boy's sides this season!

Here are my assumptions for top 6 on both sides:

Boys:

1.) Brandon Barnes

2.) Justin Miller

3.) Chase Smith

4.) Chris Gillis

5.) Matt Lyon

6.) Kyle Hunt

Girls:

1.) Kirstin Page

2.) Kara Ford

3.) Lauren Smeltzer

4.) Megan Ditterline

5.) Tiffany Brooks

6.) Jenn Fitzgibbons

Well bowldoc, that is a very good argument. Aaron Ruiz should make this list as well being that he is like 3rd high average in the state. I havent followed high school bowling much recently, but I do know Lil' Barnes is a beast.

My predictions are as follows:

1. Brandon Barnes

2. Aaron Ruiz

and then a toss up for the rest (just never heard of anyone else, sorry)

Well, it was fun to watch the state bowling last week and congrats to all the finalists. I was not surprised at all to see Aaron Ruiz win the D1 and Casey Pope the D2. Both of these kids know how to play sport patterns and it was evident that not many did. Qualifying on the house shot is rediculous since it shows you really dont need to know about lane play to score on such. The cream rose to the top and until bowlers in the rest of the state get out and challenge themselves on tougher conditions the kings of high school bowling will reside in Mid. tn for the coming years. I suggest that bowlers in mid and west tn check out ssjba.org and bowl a few of these events to improve their skills. Lets see, next yr predictions for boys state.... Aaron Ruiz and Casey Pope.

    • And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet, city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.
    • Sad deal. Hate it. So the coach that kicked her off is now fired??
    • Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.
