Keep in mind that Hammaker was just a 8th grader last year, would hope Loudon's

High School team would win.

I disagree with that argument. Yes she was only an 8th grader, but thats why she gets so much hype..because she is really good and only in 8th grade. You can't have it both ways. Also, that team had a lot of JRs and Sr's it wasn't really a one person show.

As an 8th grader she was older than most freshman. She turned 15 in July. So the 8th grader argument doesn't wash. She is older than my 10th grade daughter.

All things being equal - Anna is a great kid and a very good basketball player. She comes from a great family. I dare anyone to say anything negative about her!!!!

Maybe recruit isn't the correct term. Attract might better describe the CAK athletic program.

Just sayin....no other school in the district can attract a player from McMinn County to play basketball.

The only school that this girl could play for is CAK....public schools must abide by zones and boundries.

Not sayin...CAK coaches recruit...don't have to ....parents from travel team suggest to other parents on travel team lets keep these girls together... come to CAK and we will dominate.(Nothing wrong with this...if I could afford the 10K and the hour drive I might be tempted to send my child).

So to reanswer the orginal question....as in almost all sports CAK will win the district.

Actually, in the case of the young lady from McMinn, I think the word "recruit" could be used.

Correct me if I'm wrong. A friend who has a child at CAK tells me CAK has 300 students in the High School. That would be A classification in the 6 classification standard or the 3 classification standard. How does a school with 300 students compete in every sport at the state tournament level in 2A,3A, or A-AA? How many public schools can compete for state titles every year in soccer, volleyball, football, baseball with 300 students? Maybe one or rarely 2 sports. But private schools dominate in most all sports. Kind of like picking up a team of players that compete in the "Gold" division and competing in the bronze division of the local rec league tournament. But hey, money talks and bs walks! Sorry, not buying what your selling.

Not agreeing with you necessarily or taking up for CAK, but the last number I saw for them in 9-12 was 430. That would be 774 with a multiplier which would put them on the age of 4A playoffs the next go-around, if it's still done the current way. In other sports they will be AA for some time, unless the multiplier gets thrown out somehow.

    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
