Got a call Saturday Morning. Heard some good things about the big blue and their scrimmage! Heard Bradley had problems stopping the running game, passing game is improved and defensive front is solid. Wanting to hear from others how the scrimmage went. My buddy likes wearing the blue sunglasses, as do I. Is the county game going to be worth driving from out of town to see?

OK, two weeks into the season, we should know a little more. (My opinion) the biggest suprise so far, for me, is McMinn Central, thought they played well against McMinn and the blowout at Notre Dame really got my attention. Sweetwater and Sequoyah are where I thought they be, the jury is still out on Polk, just not sure. Meigs is still in the rebuilding stage. Whats your opinion?

Here's my take on 5AA after 5 weeks.

1. Polk County - Though they are down and other teams are improved, the Cats are still the cream of this crop.

5. Meigs - No district wins for these guys, hopefully they beat Tellico and avoid the 0'fer.

2, 3, 4 ---- This is where it gets interesting. I have seen Central and sweetwater play Polk and based solely on those two games I give the edge to Sweetwater, but very slight edge. I have not seen Sequoyah play, but based on scores alone, they may be slightly better than Central too.(see Meigs scores). With all that said, I believe these three teams are close enough that anything can happen on any Friday night, but for the sake of discussion. I'll go with this....

1. PC

2. Seq. (they have Central and Sweetwater in Madisonville)

3. Sweetwater

4. Central

5. Meigs

I'm pulling for Central to take second place, because I think thats the only way they get in the playoffs. Sweetwater and Sequoyah could claim wildcards due to their weak schedules.

Big games on tap this Friday night! McMinn Central invades Sweetwater and the Sequoyah heads to Benton to take on Polk County. Meigs County will be heading to Athens to try and ruin a homecoming for the Tribe, in non district play.

The Chargers and Wildcats are playing for alot (IMO), both teams are still in the hunt for second in the district. The loser, (I think) will be served up as the #8 seed in the playoffs.

Sequoyah-Polk game, this is the last time for anybody (except Meigs) to put a dent in Polks undefeated district record over the past few years. Winner should be the favorite for the district championship, but high seatings are also up for grabs in this one.

Central may get in the playoffs with 4 wins, since their opponents have pretty good records, and if they get in they will most likely play Polk again (depending on Friday night) or CAK (depending on their week 10 with Alcoa)

If Polk wins Friday night they are District champs, regardless of the outcome of week 10 in Decatur.

If Sequoyah wins Friday night in Benton, and Central beats Sweetwater, Sequoyah is the champ.

If Sequoyah beats Polk and Sweetwater beats Central, then the Sequoyah versus Sweetwater game will determine the winner (or send it to the tie breakers, which makes the Seq vs Loudon game huge too))

All that being said, I'm sticking with my previous predictions...

1. Polk

2. Seq.

3. Sweetwater

4. Central

5. Meigs

I'll go a little further, Alcoa beats CAK and Polk gets the #1 seed in quad 2, and Central gets #8 ----
