Moore County at Spring Fling

Does anyone know how long it's been (if ever) since a MC softball or baseball team has been to the fling?

The only thing I have heard is that the softball team went to sub-state in the early 90's

I remember that group of girls. They had all played slow pitch for several years before fast pitch got started. I didn't know how far they went that year. I guess that means it's been 20 years. Good luck to the Moore County ladies and coaches.

MC Ladies lost their first game 2-0. Both runs were unearned I think. MC had runners in scoring position a few times, but couldn't get the hits to push them across the plate.

If you had been at their sub-state game against Collinwood you would know the only reason they made Spring Fling THIS year was because of the home plate ump! I'm sure he's going to love answering to the report being filed on him!

 

Man, if they could have taken him with them Coalfield wouldn't have had a prayer.................

Did you hear that with your own two ears, or was it told. There is a big difference. If you heard it then yes that's a obviously punishable action.

The batter heard it, but do you think either the MC Catcher or Blue Behind the Plate will own up to it?

 

The guy was out to lunch! We certainly aren't 'professionals' when it comes to the sport but we have never seen a 'photographer box' painted on the field!

 

Catcher was almost knocked unconscious at home and she didn't even have the ball to make the play........

 

Admittedly, we might not have won the game, but a more fair score would have been 3-2 and not 6-2.

 

It's just so discouraging to see. Yes, I know that kids have to learn that 'life's not fair' but when it's adults vs. kids it makes it REALLY unfair.

As far as what was said behind the plate, who really knows. I'm pretty sure that the catcher calls what the coach tells her to call. If you would have been at the fling in the boro, you would have seen photographer boxes painted on each side of the field. The catcher was run over, but she was standing in the base line maybe 6-8 ft from the plate. If she didn't have the ball, that is obstruction. When the play was over the ball was on the ground near her head, I'm not sure how it got there. I hated to see the collision, but I'm not sure it was a bad call.

MC ladies lost today by 12-9 score I think. MC defense made several mistakes, both mental and physical. The other team hit the ball fairly well most of the game. MC did hit late in the game, but it was too little too late.
