MoonDogRex
So the reward for getting to the finals for all teams is the chance to play on an uneven surface that has not been well cared for by any standard befitting a "stadium field" with the potential for crazy bounces all over the place and several sand-filled spots in the penalty area. Do they actually hold club team practices on this patch of grass? It would appear so. Great field dimensions, but you'd get better play on the outlying fields. Wondering why the disparity between supposedly the most important field and the others?
RHSsoccerBro
The field is really not in bad shape. We have played several games on it since a few weeks ago and it is not near as bad as it may appear. The 7-AAA District tournament was played on that field and there was also a Region tournament game and Sectional game there. If teams are playing there for a State Championship, then they have been through enough during the season to not have to fall back on blaming the field. I agree it is not in the best shape, but it's at least the correct size and overall in pretty decent shape. Besides, both teams on the field have to play in the same conditions... MoonDogRex
Not the issues. No one is blaming the quality of the field for any results that have yet to occur, and two opposing teams always have to play on the same field. The issue is that the teams in the finals deserve a showpiece setting. The fact that the outlying fields at the same complex are better conditioned is crazy. How difficult could it have been to prioritize the maintenance of the fields at the complex?

The funny part is, the fields that the games are being played on are the ones that all the club teams practice on constantly. For the most part, not much goes on in the stadium. It's mostly the outlying fields that you refer to that have the most action so it makes no sense to why the Stadium is not pristine.

BarcaFan
that might be a reason to move Spring Fling around the state. to see the different complexes that are around. I like the convenience of Spring Fling being in the mid-state area but is there a long term agreement that soccer will stay at Siegel Soccer Complex? I know before the complex was completed they did move around the state every so many years. I'm curious if anyone knows how this is determined.
