Redo the district 12a

Tssaa needs to redo the district 12 A in girls. Some of the teams in that district have to travel close to 2 hours one way on school nights at least 4 or 5 games. How can TSSAA do that and think players are to do well in school. Most of the teams could have a district that doesn't require them to travel less than 30 minutes. I am just saying they need to take another look at this district. :confused:

I agree that there are several issues for both 12a and 11a. The number of teams in each is too many. Between the two there are 20 schools listed. Its a shame TSSAA will not legitimately consider modifying the districts. No other districts or regions include so many. To combine the two large districts lessens the chances for qualified teams to make state berths.

Well, I totally agree, I do know of some 11A schools that the pricipals allow the athletes that have to travel 2hrs somewhere, to let them sleep in, but have to be at school by 11am. but they still miss like 2-3 class periods and have to catch up... But i do agree. this is a great post to start..

Let me make a correction that the Region 6a contains 19 teams instead of 20. Looking at the TSSAA Districts and Regions for all categories, no other districts or regions come close. This issue was brought before the TSSAA board by Laryy Helton of Forrest High School at the last cycle of district and region changes. It would appear that little consideration was given to the valid concerns by the Districts.
