Umm. Disappointing season not to get to State and thats not all right.

A plan to correct all of the mistakes and get there next year is in the schools hands?

The school is taking a total position of control.

Improvement of techniques is an absolute necessity in every phase.

Results of implementation in the future will determine success.

Did meet some positive goals.

Sir, how is that not related to coaching? We talked about this in the preseason. Several of us commented on Seigals and Indys decision to go with young club helpers with no coaching experience. These two schools are too good to put kids with no coaching experience as the head coaches. Now that the season is over don't you agree?

Not really, everything was described as a total train wreck? It could really have not been? Too much character and training on this team. After all won the District by the skin of the teeth, won the Tournament, came in second over a surprising Columbia team in Regional which was not expected but as well as they played in State wasn't a fluke and went to Ooltewah and was beaten 16-14 in the fifth to be knocked out of State. Not speaking for siegel but for the community as a whole, this was not up to par and the team thought it was not. Expectations are really high. The students expected more. Too much has been said and published about coaching experience. Players play and if things are done differently than have been done in the past, it might be a little different. It is not fair to compare Indy and Siegel. Indy got a coach that had some ASST COACH background. No one took the time to say that. Too busy trying to make a political point, Siegel has had newbees before but with some experience. The coach had no time to learn this team before the season started. She had the parts to th e puzzle but had no definition that it was there nor did those who she selected to help her at the last moment. Absolutely not the same situation.

Piling on again is the fact she walked in to alliance and if you think she was a Club Coach, maybe in name, looking for a job.

That was not why she was hired at siegel as many were trying to explain, This fine lady was hired first as a teacher in a school that had few or none on Staff with VB experience. If nothing else, the school just might like to build up some type of pool with VB experience. That was tried the last two years and it didn't work out and thats all right. If you look at AAA schools in the State Tournament all but one was a Certified Teacher. Nothing wrong with that and it was the norm. You are right about one thing and age does not matter. To coach at the level AAA Volleyball at the State level is being played and fit the norm, a young coach can do it but a deep look in to her understanding of rotations, court savy, handling personnel and all of the other things is necessary. And her ability to call on those who could be her mentors like just everyone on the TTU Staff to help her in a lot of ways. Sometimes in situations like this an understanding of where to call on the help is more important than anything else. So with all of that, different face and fell one game short by two points and was runnerup in the Regional to a very good school.

In a superior program, one that has been developed over the past 12 years, it is hard to grasp everything involved and changing things that don't need to be changed only means a misunderstanding of how things work. The larger issue is a young player might not know very well all of the technical, strategy parts of the game that only a college/University coach can help with and knowing that finding that mentor is around is of tremendous importance.

siegel now has missed a year. That really was not in plan. A few might not think that is important. The players on this team have preparation and only 4 years to meet their goals. Woops, missed one. Can;t afford to miss another. They will be back. Adversity makes people stronger and they are strong to start with.

Sort of really reminds me of of situation 4 or 5 years ago when a newbe was given a job to take a school to the state when the school was loaded as much as fans around had wondered why they hadnt been there. Had totally the best tallent available. Couldn't put it together. The same cry was spoken but the school name was changed. Schools in their own District were totally amused when mission possible failed. You did win this year and the last two. But this year may have been the best coaching effort. The other two were given. I would imagine that the schools and coaches in District 11 did have something to do with it. Osmosis is the word. After all top 4 schools in the State and who was on top. District 7 will be back.
