polkalumni
Cleveland plays Cookeville, at Cookeville, on August 30th. Polk goes to Chattanooga Central on August 30th. The Purple Pounders had already said they wanted out of this match-up, seems like August 30th Cleveland vs Polk would have benefited everyone involved!! Thats what I was thinking. Why travel to Cookeville or Harrison when a big money game for both schools was there for the taking. It just doesn't make sense.

It was a close game last year and a nice place to play.

Charlie Murphy
Central had/has no problems playing Polk. It was a close game last year and a nice place to play. I'm just going by what was reported in the Cleveland Daily Banner, that during the pregame of this years game Coach Allen informed Coach Davis that he (Allen) was not interested in continuing the series. Obviously that was early in the season before the re-alignment was set, so I'm sure exceptions had to be made to fill schedules. As for Polk's seniors - The original QB/DB (Coffey), TB/LB (Green), DB (Green), DE (Triplett), WB/CB/K/P (Brown), a couple of linemen (we never remember their names do we?), and a few special teams and back-ups. It will be interesting to see if the junior that was "released" from the team gets his stuff straight and is able to get back on the team for his senior season, he was a contributor at WB/CB. He was a very good player i wish he would come back....im sure the real question is will Davis take him back...i hope so we need him in 2013

If he isn't willing to do that then to put it bluntly the team is better off without him. I think is a good player, but good players have quit before and Davis has always found a way to replace them. PayDirt
I had heard a rumor that polk was going to play mcminn county. It obviously fell through, but I would had loved to see that matchup
Tigers94
What rivalry? Have you seen the scores the last few years vs. Meigs? Meigs is a cupcake. You have to have competitive games before its considered a rivalry. It looks like a good, competitive schedule for the Wildcats next year. . Ask your Youth juniors and your JV how cupcake Meigs is about to be.
