I like spring hill they are 4 deep in pitching, king is the ace, but they have three very good arms behind him. At some point pitching depth becomes a factor. You are right Marshall is a very tough place to win, they defend their home turf we'll. should be some very good games, but we know there is usually one big moment in every game whether it is an at bat or a defensive play or one big pitch, that decides the outcome. Can't wait to see these tournament games should be some very good baseball. Good luck to everyone.

It took 9 innings for Spring Hill to put Cascade down in the first matchup between these two pitchers.  The Raiders came back the next day and toasted Casecade 12-0.  It all comes down to the umpires.  If the Bule forces these two guygs to throw it down the middle in order to call a strike, look for another close ball game.  The difference in the first meeting Zach King had 12 K's and Gardener had 7.  The Raiders generated 2 more hits than Cascade in that meeting and did not bat in the bottom of the 7th.  Another difference in the two meetings was the weather.  The first meeting was cold and wet. Tonight should be perfect.  In games where the weather has not been a factor, the Spring Hill bats have come alive.  I look for the Raider batting order to lock in on Gardener early and give their ace a lead to pitch with.  Spring Hill has been here many times before and this team goes about their business as well as any team Paul Lamm has had to this point.

Tough loss last night for spring hill 3-2 in 9 innings at home vs cascade. One of the best pitched games I've seen Ina long time, hats off to Gardner and king on both sides, couldn't ask any more of either pitcher. This puts sh in a must win game Monday at home 430 Marshall co to advance.

How many K's did each one have?

Not the best decision by Marshall to save your ace and go into the losers bracket .

At least they have their ace in an elimination game. It is all about taking the risk of winning the second game against SH. It worked for Cascade because of the upset win.

CPA and Cascade in championship tonight. Marshall gets outstanding pitching against SH and wins 3-1 putting SH out. Marshall gets another outstanding performance in second game but loses 1-0 to Cascade. CPA wins 6-0 over Giles setting up championship at CPA.

And so the Region 6 Tournament will move forward without Spring Hill for the first time in 5 years.  But don't get used to it.  The Raiders will return 7 starters from their 8-2 District 12 AA Regular Season Championship Team, as well as their top 3 pitchers.  Add to that group a talented soon to be sophomore class, and you can't help but think even with all of the past success, The Raiders best days are ahead.

Note to the "majority" of coaches within the district:  Set your tournament bracket before the season starts so as to not look quite so manipulative in your process.

The Raiders have made it look easy over the past few years. But next year, they will have a chip on their shoulder the size of a 2 by 4.  While the powers that be in Distrcit 12AA accomplished their short term goal this season, what they have really done is awakened a sleeping giant. Motivation is a powerful tool.  With 5 of the 7 All District players, Pitcher of the Year & Coach of the Year named from Spring Hill last night returning next season, my first impression is that it's gonna be fun!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
