I would say Oneida can compete with any of them.  If you will remember they were leading Meigs for long stretches last year in the region and beat Harriman.  They have the players to get by the teams in 3-A.  Coalfield can also do some damage but they have to come ready to play.  If Wartburg shoots it well they could knock someone off too.  If the Lady Indians win their conference tournament then they will be playing as well as anyone going into the region.

Before the 2011 season, OS made it to the region every season myself and my dad can remember dating back to 2001. Before 2001, I don't know. The first half of that stretch, Oliver Springs was a AA school. Crazy successful. Making it to the region 14 out of 16 years (Maybe more) doesn't happen to any run of the mill school.

That "Good Luck" feels awfully sarcastic.....which is fine I suppose, but this Oneida team has gotten better over the year.  They are unbeaten in the conference and just recently beat a Clarkrange team that has virtually a strangle hold on just about everyone in East Tennessee when they choose to travel this way.  Heck, we may even get beat before the region finals, but you can be sure it will take a solid basketball team to accomplish it.  If Boggess not on last years team they would not have made it to M'boro because the game would not have been close were she not in the line-up and they going to need her again this time too.

I think Oneida Tradition in women's basketball certainly rivals OS.  Obviously, it hasn't been the best over the last several years but that stuff in the rafters is impressive.....!

CMON kazzy, just trying to wish them well. Looks like your looking for an argument. As far as Boggess goes yes she's great but is surrounded by good players. Take Jordan off the Bulls and they don't win either. Again GOOD LUCK to you guys sorry you took good luck the wrong way!!!!SMH!!!!

Combine that with the boys not making the region, and can you think when was the last time neither the boys or girls from OS were in the region?

Having seen both districts play this year , don't believe any team in district 4 can compete with anybody in district 3. Yes Oneida beat a weakened Clarkrange by weakened I mean 3 of the five  starters were not playing in the game all out for some reason and was told Clarkrange finished game with four players on the floor......... NOT AN  IMPRESSIVE WIN . It just looks like all teams with the exception of Oneida was rebuilding this year all teams below Oneida was about equal some really close games across the board Oneida just had everybody back and had better coaching. Will not be that way in the region, anybody who thinks different is running around with their head in the clouds . It really pains me to say it but look for a district 3 sweep in the first round of region.

    • Looks like South Pittsburg added some more talent!
    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
