Is it TSSAA legal for high school players to play in AAU tournaments during the season?  I see several clips each weekend on Twitter showing TN boys on AAU teams.

Are they playing "AAU" currently or just AAU teams promoting the players in their programs? No legit AAU or Exposure team would compete during the High School season. That's a no no. I don't know the TSSAA rules but would never allow any of my programs to do this. Could it be Middle School Athletes?  Most MS seasons are over.

I am 99.9% sure a tssaa athlete cannot compete at a club level team while in season for that sport.

Excerpt From the TSSAA handbook:

Section 21. Once a student’s name is listed on the school’s eligibility report, if a student participates in an independent game in that sport after the first contest date allowed and before the season has closed or his/her name has been removed from the eligibility report at the request of the school principal, the student shall be ineligible at the varsity level as explained below.

They cannot play until after their high school season ends. It would make the athlete ineligible for the reminder of the school year.
