Monday night the Patriots come into what promises to be a hostile Centennial eniroment and play the cougars in their home opener. The crowd will be a factor in this game and they will talk among other things about Centennial's 22-0 thrashing of the sorry Page high football team. Centennial is young but aggresive i think chs wins by 10. what are everyone else's thougts?

It was a good battle, but Centennial pulled it out by 12. It was a very exciting game. Centennial played with great intensity with Bryce Carden(JR PF/C) leading all scorers with 26 pts. along with 11 boards, teammate Konrad Waliszewski(JR PG/SG) had 17. Page was led my Nick Mars(SR SG/SF) who had 25. Page is a tough team, but could not match up with Centennial. They have a very good team with a lot of depth, everyone contributes. Watch out for Centennial leading their district.

I saw that Ballentyne was injured in the game against Page. How serious was the injury? How long will he be out and how will Centennial do without their leading scorer?

Nick just had a first degree sprained ankle. Our next game isn't till Monday @ White's Creek and so he has a while to heal. If he doesnt play against Whites Creek it will hurt us but we also have Senior Paul Krivaneck and he should pick up the slack. We really played together after Nick's injury against Page when we could have unraveled. I think we will be ready to go to war on Monday. BTW how is Whites Creek looking?

    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
    • Hopefully you’re not signing off for good. There are a lot of Oak Ridge fans that appreciate your comments.
    • Florida tried urban/rural split two years ago. 4 urban classes, 4 rural classes. Didn’t work. Next year they will have 7 regular classes, 1 urban class for small schools only.
