A tough situation

------------------------------------------------

Saying the right thing in a tough situation is still

a tough thing to do. It's the right thing, but it's

tough.

Whether it's something an athlete needs to hear

from you, an administrator, a fellow coach, or a

family member. Tough is tough no matter how

you slice it.

That's why it's easy to put it off.

You know in your heart you shouldn't put it off,

but, again, tough is tough. If you say it, you're

liable to offend the person, or people, and run

the risk of turning them against you.

If you don't say it, a bad

situation will just get worse.

That was precisely the situation Jesus found

himself. In his own hometown, would his friends

and neighbors reject him if he claimed he was

the Messiah? He knew what he had to do. He

had to risk it.

So, in the synagogue one day, he made the

claim. It caught everyone off guard, and, yes,

you guessed it. They became hostile toward

him. Very hostile. Even tried to kill him by

dragging him out of the synagogue and pushing

him off the cliff.

Coach, you do run a risk in saying what you

know you need to say. Might even have a hostile

reaction toward you.

Yet, if you have gone to God to ask him what

you should say, and how you should say it, he

will be with you when you do.

What happened to Jesus?

At the edge of the cliff, mysteriously the people

let go. He looked them straight in the eyes and

walked through the hostile crowd. No one could

lay a hand on him. It just wasn't God's timing

for them to do so.

Coach, God will be with you, too. That is, if what

you have to say is coming from God.

Make sure it is.

Then say it!

Yours for coaching excellence,

    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
