Our State Organization will through various sanctioned competitions at the State and Regional levels qualify several of Tennessee˜s best amateur wrestlers to compete in the Asics/Vaughan Junior National Championships and the AdvoCare Cadet National Championships to be held in July at North Dakota State University, Fargodome, Fargo, North Dakota. As one Dad discribed it, (for comparison) "To a wrestler...it's like going to the Mecca."

OUR Qualifying Requirements --

Top 3 finishers TENNESSEE FREESTYLE & GRECO-ROMAN CHAMPIONSHIP Tournament at Father Ryan HS, Nashville on May 3rd (4th place alternate) or USAW Regional top 3 as follows...

Quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cadets˜Limited to participation in SE REGIONAL only, KIDS/CADET: GRECO-ROMAN/FREESTYLE - May 23-26, Greenville, SC - Rob Wiggs (803-750-9724)

Juniors˜ANY Regional Championship, but closest are -

- Central Regional Championships, (JUNIOR/SENIOR/ GRECO-ROMAN/FREESTYLE) Apr 11-13˜Jeffersonville, IN Mike Dowden (317-780-1885)

- Southeast Regional Championships, (JUNIOR/SENIOR: GRECO-ROMAN/FREESTYLE) Apr 10-13 ˜New Orleans, LA, Jim Ravannack (504-455-4216)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mandatory Camp attendance...Terry Brands will host at UTC˜still working on when and how much $$$. Hoping we have enough Chattanooga area team participants so that all campers can stay in local homes rather than have the additional expense of UTC dorm fees. (Team will most likely leave directly from UTC camp to Chattanooga airport for flight to Fargo˜) No other camp, no matter how exclusive will substitute for participation in our TWF/UTC training camp. THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS UNIQUE, ONE-ON-ONE CAMP WITH THE EXPERTISE OF BRANDS, FULLHART, AND ESLINGER SHOULD MAKE THE TOTAL EXPENSE LESS PAINFUL. BUT, if you don't know freestyle, you won't learn it in those few days.

Tentative Camp Schedule :

- Monday July 14th (Register 1 - 2pm ) evening sessions/ 1 meal

- Tuesday, 15th 3/meals

- Wednesday, 16th 3/meals

- Thursday, 17th 3/meals

- Friday, 18th 1/meal - leave for Airport (Fargo)

---Cadet Nationals begin Saturday, 19th

---Junior Division begins Sunday 20th

All participants subject to mandatory Team Travel arrangement, (Air or bus) Dormitory arrangements on campus (NDSU) in Fargo, compliance with team uniform rules (to be addressed later) and the practice, parade and photos sessions scheduled during nationals. No individual can compete in Fargo alone. We are a state delegation and we must come together as a team, just like your own high school team. We all need to get to know and support each other in a very short time... both wrestlers and coaches alike. The Coaches committed to date are Joe Blair of Brentwood, Tom Marable of Memphis and Shane Turner of Soddy Daisy. We attempt to furnish a coach for each 5 athletes. Additional NCEP certified coaches who are interested in helping out need to contact Louise Davis at tennwrestling@mindspring.com

Parents who can get to Fargo are encouraged to do so. Motel options are available thru USAW. Thou the town is at the end of the world - it is a fun place to be. Each parent will receive team shirts, which we encourage you to wear to show your pride and support of our Tennessee Kids.

Participation Waivers MAY BE granted on an individual basis with due cause˜ doctor's statement or school academic statement. Those needing waivers must have been active at some point during our freestyle season...participating in at least two other sanctioned TWF/USAW (non-qualifying) events with credentials. (Medallist)

Females - no contest...any Tennessee girl can go, but she will be required to be in the care of a parent or her personal coach at all times in Fargo. TWF will provide coaching staff if needed in Fargo. There will be a girl's festival in Greenville in conjunction with SE and also in Chattanooga at Fila Jr. Worlds, which you should try to do.

Unfortunately we don't have the numbers or volunteers to split our coaching staff and teams for travel and length of stay, whereas we would separate the Greco and Freestyle cadet and junior teams as other states do. Therefore, everyone will be in Fargo for the duration. With this in mind...participation in Greco is encouraged but not mandatory. Expect a 12-15 day trip depending on length of training camp and our transportation options. Expect individual expenses to run approximately $750 - $850 each, (plus road money). This includes, entry fees, air fare, room and board 10 + days, uniforms, coach expense offset and other stuff we must pay for. Letters soliciting sponsorships are furnished by TWF to qualified athletes. Most wrestlers are able to obtain some or all funds with the financial assistance of sponsors. A 25% non-refundable deposit with registration will be required well in advance of the trip. We consider the receipt of your registration as your trip confirmation. As such, it becomes our basis for lining up our coaching staff, purchasing uniforms, R & B deposits, etc. --- therefore, your committment becomes ours and we can't back out if you do, so don't expect your deposit back.

THIS PRELIMINARY SUMMARY DESCRIBES WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT˜CHANGES MAY BE MADE SUBJECT TO CIRCUMSTANCES˜

    • Y’all boys can’t spell discipline. Probably lead the state in personal fouls last year. Being halfway disciplined in 1 game against Smith County in 3rd round doesn’t dismiss the rest of the season. “Shoulda” won the state championship but those mouths got the best of you yet again. Marion already had a lot more retuning than y’all this year. Adding these 2 D1 kids will 100% make a major impact. Marion will stand on business this year. They haven’t forgotten. I’m just keeping it real
    • MC upgraded with 2 studs. If they can’t get it done this year with a generational speed talent in Pickett then I’m not sure they ever will. Huge favorite in the East currently.    Multiple offers from FCS calls for gold.
    • no they will be tough for sure
    • Marion just jumped ER as the favorites in the East. Two big time transfers for y’all kinfolks. Bullseye has been set now. I said it the last two years it is time and both times y’all let me down. Can’t say you’re short on talent this year or that you’re young. Time to put up or shut up. Surely y’all can get over the hump this year. I’m just keeping it real
    • Should have won by 30 last year if we played discipline at the very least. May have got 2 dogs up front but remember we have the best DL in the state on our team. Also added a 6’6” 320lb O lineman.
