Smyrna's problem with Donaldson was not that she didnt Know the game, that she does, she just doesnt know how to coach it without being completely negative, negativity is just something that comes with coaching but too much of it plus and attitude gets you nowhere....as you can see...

The final 3 are: Chad Hibdon from Rock Springs Middle, Steve Willey former Girls head coach from Lavergne, and Kelly (Forgot her last name)Chastain?? Assistant from Riverdale. Word says that choice will be announced on Friday of this week.

The field has been narrowed down to 2....Hibdon and Willey. It was a nice touch for you to get rid of the facial hair,Coach H, since Raikes hates it.

Region4fan, where are you getting your information about Steve Willey being interested in the Smyrna job? He was the coach there in the early 90's and I find it hard to believe he would ever go back there unless someone is threatening him with serious bodily harm.

Sources close to the Smyrna family say look for Steve Willey to return to his old stomping grounds.. He will reportedly be offered the job this weekend.

If I remember correctly, Willey left the LaVergne girl's program when he either became or is going to become an elementary principal. Would Rutherford County allow him to be a principal and coach or would he have to decide which of the two he wanted to do? :confused: :confused:

I understand that there was MUCH discussion on this issue today. The majority of the girls want Hibdon to be the coach. They have played for him before and he has kept his ties with the girls tight. However, he has no proven track record with high school.AND>... He has already accepted a job as a Siegal assistant to get the high school experience. Since this will be his 3rd coaching change in less than 2 years....Raikes is a little skeptical.( Smyrna Middle to Rock springs Middle To Siegal High)That is a lot of moving around!!Willey was formerly at SHS. He has proven that he can coach at the high school level and win at lavergne. He can also get along with Raikes. He thought he was going to get a principal's position, but didn't.He did give up his coaching duties at LHS to concentrate on administration.BUT.....He is no fool, there is multiple talent at Smyrna and more coming up. Word is saying today that Willey WILL be offered the job. Hibdon is just too green and maybe a little too friendly with the girls.Besides he already has a job at Siegal.But ...as we know things could change.Best of luck to 2 fine men.
