  1. The right call is it doesnt matter because you dont call a guy out for missing the plate when there is no play on him and he is celebrating a big district win under a dog pile. ridiculous call.
  2. Congrats nrgrizzlies for turning this thread into a rip session of former Bulldog players and coaches. Nice try on shifting your post into a rant on the "horrible situation" our schools are in when really by simply reading your wonderfully inciteful posts, we all know 1) you DO hate Smyrna HS and 2) the school you support is the school with the most academic and discipline problems in the whole county! Coach Mooney, Chad Caldwell, and all the other Bulldogs have moved on. They didnt win the state 7 or 8 years ago...you think they should have. Great. Go do something productive today...maybe work on the "horrible" academic problems of our schools as you stated.....or just go ahead and start another Smyrna is no good thread....that seems to be your favorite past time.
  3. Smyrna def. MJ tonight 25-20, 25-22, 25-10. Mt. Juliet came out extremely excited and played very tough, especially the first two games.....kudos to the MJ students tonight...made for a great atmosphere.
  4. We probably should not be getting upset about the article because we must remember who wrote it. A few years back Jeff wrote a similar article about he FHS volleyball team which my daughter played on. He pretty much bashed them for not being able to play with the big teams. I asked Jeff how many matches he had attended that year and he said,"duhhh, none. We made all the way to the state semi-finals that year. That is who we are dealing with here, as second rate wanna be reporter. As someone who does not have a dog in this fight, I have a hard time understanding how Mr. Lockridge is a "second rate wanna be" simply by questioning the strength of the district during the streak. First of all, the streak is impressive regardless of strength of the ditsrict. winning 40+ district games in a row is phenominal. However, how can you not question the overall strength of the district when the team who is winning the 40+ games does not come close to winning or getting to he state championship. Maryville's football streak is backed up by the fact they follow it with state championships, Franklin' streak while equally impressive in numbers, has to show some validity to Mr. Lockridge's point based on what happens to Franklin when they have gotten outside the district. I would be happy that high school sports, and your team even get an article in the Tennessean. I played in district 11 over 15 years ago and can tell you that the fact that high school sports atleast are covered on a semi regular basis is better than what i remember back in the day. just my opinion, maybe its wrong, maybe its right.....but hate hearing a guy get called a wanna be 2nd rate reporter when I think the guy does a pretty dang good job.

  6. Smyrna defeated Mj last night 25-20,25-23,25-21. Thanks play4keeps. We played pretty well last night, and I guess now the ball is in WC's court so to speak as you all will play MJ on Tuesday i believe. Smyrna and WC are still tied for first with MJ and Lavergne a game behind in a tie for 3rd. See you next week.
  7. Smyrna defeated Gallatin in 9AAA action 23-25, 25-11, 25-13, 25-8. Smyrna was apparently still thinking about the Lavergne win on Monday and Gallatin stuck it to them the first game. This district continues to be crazy...3 way tie for first with Smyrna, WC, and Mt, Juliet all at 7-2. Lavergne just 1 game back. Not sure how they did with Hendersonville tonight. Should be an interesting last few weeks in 9AAA. Smyrna at Mt. Juliet will be huge match on thursday as far as sorting out the district a bit.
  8. Watch it riverdaleman!!! We bulldogs may have to turn you in for recruiting violations!! Good luck to South Doyle tonight. You guys are the best team i've seen all year.
  9. You have made my point for me with your most recent post. "Ole Sonny Boy" is not the kids name. You continue to post in a negative manner about a kid you know nothing about. I am definitely glad the team you support (SD) played with much more class and dignity than you are able to show in this forum, and as far as you and your buddy owning this thread, i think that is a wonderful accomplishment for both of you . You should be very proud.
  10. I have gone back and read the entire list of posts 5742, and not one post says something negative about SD. Just because a fan says their team is not intimidated and has confidence in their ace does not put down your squad. You should be proud of the fact that SD put up 8 hits against an extremely high round prospect. Do you think that because Sonny gave up 8 hits and 6 runs means he now will go undrafted, or have Vandy pull the offer??? It means your team is flat out good. Be proud of them but don't dog out a kid ("SONNY BOY"/WONDERBOY,as you have referred to him numerous times) with much more class than you have shown during your last few posts.
  11. Egerton doubles to the wall in right in the bottom of the first to score Shawn Land. Sonny leads off the top of 4th with a solo shot to left center. Houston gets runners to 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 6th. Egerton takes to the mound and strikes out 3 in a row to get out of the jam. Houston has runners on 1st and 2nd with one out in the 7th. Pinch hitter hits a high chopper over third for a hit, runner on 2nd scores, the ball scoots away from the left fielder maybe 10-12 feet and runner on first tries to get to third and got hosed for the second out. Tying run on 2nd, two outs, and Egerton strikes out the #2 hitter to win the game. Great job SHS Couldn't remember if Sonny's homer was 3rd or 4th inning but 3rd sounds right now
  12. Smyrna wins 5-1. Scored 4 in the top of 7th. Franklin beat Overton 12-6
  13. Smyrna @ Lavergne is still on. Girls game starts 6:30.
  14. I'll give Liberty about another two years before they have to be disbanded about like that memphis private school program Vincent Askew was running.
  15. I stated this earlier and would like to clarify again. The decrease in matches will be basically non noticable because of the fact that tournaments will be only counted as 3 matches. Most of your good programs will play the 4 tourney max which will only count 12 of your 35 total. Any of you who have been around the sport know that while counting as 3 matches, you will get a minimum of 6 and up to 10 matches in most tournaments. There is no way that a school that doesn't play tri-matches (which hardly anyone does anymore with the 3 of 5 format we went to a few yerars back) will play 23 more single matches during the season. My team for example plays 4 tourneys (12 matches per TSSAA), 12 district matches, and would still be left with 11 more matches i could play against non district copmpetition. The only way this rule makes a difference is if you play all tri matches or the TSSAA actually made you count exactly how many matches were played during a weekend tourney. You will continue to see a state champion with a record like 54-5 even though they say only 35 reg season matches because of the reasons above.
