The REASON

It's only a game. Well not many people see it that way, myself included sometimes. Sports are defined as--an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. Athletics is defined as--activities, such as sports, exercises, and games, that require physical skill and stamina, the principles or system of training and practice for such activities. We seem to get carried away in the moment. From posting threats and calling names to destruction of property and physical fights. It's as if we feel that life revolves around sports. Well im sorry my friend it doesn't. Yes we meet life long friends and yes we have more stories from sports then we could share in a life time, and nothing beats the smell of the locker room or the feel of the floor, court, turf, dirt, mat, or w/e one plays on. One positive asset is that a great education may be attained due to a scholarship or maybe for the select few the big time where that is their career, but still sports are not everything. Some of us live sports from our eating habbits, house decorations, clothing, to even our mind set and mentality. But sports are not the world, they do help the world in a positive way by making great team workers and even future soldiers, teachers, coaches and parents. Yet they are not everything. Yes they affect your classroom behavior and sometimes they could even help you with a g/f or b/f lol. Sports make some people move and they make some people stay. Still they are not the world. I love the game and i love being in that zone for the time it lasts during the season. But folks thats not the main reason we are here. We are here because of the four letter word L-O-V-E. There was this man who sent his Son to die for us and that is why we are here, to share that love and to one day go and be with him. While we are here for this short time, sports are a wonderful thing to be involved in and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Exactly.

It's all about priorities, man. You hear coaches stressin each year before the season about how 'this is the year, and this is what we're gonna do'. It usually ends with: Remember fellas, Sports is the 4th most important thing, next to school, then family, then most of all, God. Hobbies and chicks come 5th and 6th priority. The truth is, this is never the case. It's all about winnin, and when the season gets rollin, sports is top priority-throw the rest out the window. We all wanna set aside what really matters for the temporary-for the practices, the games, the conditionings, the free-time-whatever. Everybody forgets about what really matters in life. We wanna put God in a box, disregard our family, and throw away our grades just for the sake of a W. Man, you can't take sports with you. You can be the most sought after prep athlete and get injured. Do all those rings really stack real when your health is failing you? I mean, for real, we all wanna live our life, live it up, have fun while we can, and we die, we die. Priorities, man. You put God first and everything falls in line. And life may be runnin fine without Him right now, and if we think we can live without Him, that's cool, right? God bless America. Think God takes that lightly? And we expect a genie to come out of a bottle and bless our country, give Him a high five, and we don't do anything for Him. We never go out and put our belief into action; we think a church visit or two seals the deal. We must be Christians. Yet, we show up to every practice, do everthing coach says, and even practice on our own time, so we definitely athletes. How can we expect God to act when we don't even step? You know, if we put half as much energy, half as much time, half as much faith, half as much priorities in God as we do sports, we'd start to see the big picture. Nothing lasts forever, and reality proves that. All I'm sayin is, sports is all gravy, but we gotta realize that sports is not ALL. But for some, sports is all they think they have and that's what's sad. We think if we don't get that scholarship, if we don't maintain that winnin status, we can't cut it. In God's eyes, we shoud all be losers, cause we can't measure up to Him. Instead, he's faithful when we ain't, he gives us chances when we don't even give em to ourselves. Man, we all runnin the race of life, whether we want to or not. And when we check ourselves, it's clear-ain't none of us measure up-the next man is always better. When the finish line smacks you in the face, how you gonna be runnin? Some gone be runnin away from God. Some gone be runnin after God. Some may even be runnin for God. But lemme tell you this. The only ones that's gonna win is the one's runnin WITH God. Evaluate what your standin for, and be real with it. When you about to die, don't call God's lifeline all of a sudden. Ride all the way right now, or don't ride at all.

Peace,
