Brentwood Academy 7, MTCS 2

Brentwood Academy defeated Middle Tennessee Christian School 7-2 Thursday afternoon in the first game of a best-of-3 series to determine D2 Middle's official champion. MTCS subsequently conceded the second game to the Eagles, meaning that BA will advance to state regardless of their performance in the region tournament.

 

Warning to BGA: Don't take these guys for granted on Saturday. While you are easily the better team, MTCS has a lot of fight and will not go down easily. They played very hard today against BA, but were simply outmatched.

Why did MTCS forfeit the second game??

they only have one pitcher....he is really pretty good, would start for most teams...so it's just an all for nothing on his arm...if they don't win behind him, they just realize that they don't have a chance.

so is their season over or do hey still play on. Who is the pitcher you speak of ??

Brandon Brock -- #21. He's a 6'5 or so First Baseman/Pitcher who has some pretty good speed, but has trouble getting his curve in the zone. He finished for MTCS, pitching 2 2/3 innings and surrendering a few runs. He'll probably start against BGA Saturday, but may be tired from today's outing. We'll see.

how are the MTCS bats doing? are they hitting the ball very well at all?

They had 6 or 7 baseknocks today, most of them grounders or small bloopers that found their way through. They don't hit tenaciously, but they can pull out some scrappy hits and hustle plays. They seem to be pretty well-coached as well, so when they get on the basepaths they're pretty efficient.

Pete Compton -- 4 innings

Stephen Burris -- 2 innings

Johnathan Heard -- 1 inning

 

Once again it was a pitching-by-committee effort.

I would be very surprised to see the cats take anything or anyone for

granted from here on out.....especially after the BA series and last game with BA.
