Passing League in July

East Ridge High School is planning a one day passing league on either Saturday July 12th. We will offer at least SIX football games (possibly 8).

It might be a great way to get started after the dead period and condition your skill players for camp!

Hamilton County Passing League

July 12, 2003

 

Rules:

1. No video taping will be allowed

2. Teams will wear their jerseys (game or practice) or team T-shirts (we request that you wear your dark colors or bring your scrimmage vests if you wear white).

3. The ball will be put into play on the 40 yard line. You can earn a first down at the opposing 40, and 20 yard lines (every twenty yards). Each team will have four downs to complete a first down or score. IF a team fails to convert or score, the ball goes over to the opponent at the 40 yard line.

4. Each game will have two 12-15 minute quarters. Each team will have one time out during the second quarter. The clock will not stop unless a time out is called or in case of an injury.

5. Teams will wear helmets and mouth pieces for safety, but no helmet to helmet contact will be allowed for any reason.

6. Defensive backs may “bump” receivers for five yards, but only “incidental contact” will be allowed downfield. No offensive player may block or “push off” downfield to catch the ball. Tackling a player will result in an automatic first down and the possible ejection of a player from the league. The final judgment of the referees will be final.

7. Scoring will result in 6 points and extra points will be converted for two points from the 10 yard line. Interceptions will result in a conversion and three point for the defense (except on the conversion attempt).

8. A 40 minute break for lunch will be allowed and each team is encouraged to make arrangements for lunch with their boosters or contact Coach James at East Ridge High School for other options (i.e. Pizza Delivery).

9. Playoff games will begin after lunch (see schedule)

10. One defensive coach will be allowed in the defensive backfield, 2-3 coaches form each team will be allowed behind the offensive huddle.

11. Each team will provide one assistant coach to act as a referee (blow whistle and set the ball). We will have one referee to run the clock and call penalties.

 

P.S. We may have the games at CAMP JORDAN in East Ridge or our high school. We will let you know next week. The cost will be $125 per team (up to 25 players) or $150 per team (up to 50 players).
