hoopsguru79 Posted July 21, 2003 Report Share Posted July 21, 2003 The 17 yr old team should be playing the Clarksville Magic this coming Saturday in a city rival matchup. Thats it for them I think. The 16 yr olds are done for the year, and the 15 yr olds will be playing in the Midwest Best of the Best National Championships this weekend. Also, tell me what you thought about the tourney. Midwest Best is planning on expanding more in the SE next year. We are looking for ideas and things we can do to improve. I know there were scheduling conflicts w/ some teams but I thought the facilities were very nice and the competition was superior. Whats your take on it? hoopsguru79 Posted July 29, 2003 Report Share Posted July 29, 2003 We finished the tourney 2-3. Losing all three by a total of 11 points. We lost by 2 on Sunday to the Flames of Chicago. In tournamnet play. I have to admit the competition was pretty good. But on of the games we lost was to a 17 yr old team from Detriot by 3 points. They were put in our bracket, without any birth certificates being checked. The facility was second to none, but the tourney was pretty unorganized. There wasnt a trainer on site, no map to any of the gyms across the whole city. No explantaion of why there was a guarnetee 6 games, when every team only played 5. Then when there was a major controversy, we were told that we could play 1 game for fun, to make our sixth game. To me it was false advertisement. But thanks for the compliments! Your presence and ability to alter or change opponets shots will definetly get you points with scouts. Keep playing hard and hit the weights and the sky is the limit as far as Im concerned. Were going to be pretty good this year we have a new coach and we did real good in team camp this summer. I've gotten letters from Purdue, Memphis, some local colleges(Union, Bethel, Lambuth, etc.).
