ELA--There is no rule, it is only an insurance issue. It is up to the individual coach to keep up with it. Once again there is no rule.

4Afan... it's in the 2003-2004 TSSAA Handbook! I have never seen anyone charged with this offense!

This is straight out of the TSSAA 2003 handbook:

Section 9. The membership of a B team shall be composed of all varsity substitutes and any other players that are certified to TSSAA. All eligibility rules will apply at the varsity level only in high and junior high school. At the junior varsity or B-team level, only the age, semester, academic and repeating rules will apply. Students in violation of any of these four rules will be ineligible to participate at any level. Students that are

ineligible as a result of any other rules may participate at the B-team level in either junior high or varsity athletics. A player shall not participate in more than six quarters of play in one day during regular-season contests. (A player who enters a game for any length of time during a quarter shall be charged with a quarter’s participation.) B teams shall comply with all other TSSAA regulations.
