Using a very precise and methodical ground game against a very large Giles County team, Lewis County ran away from the Bobcats in the second half, breaking open a 7-7 halftime game to win their fourth straight and remain undefeated with a 35-7 victory.

The Bobcats scored on the second play of the game on a 63 yard run but never threatned offesnively for the rest of the game. The Panthers opened the game minus star quarterback David Sharp who missed the week of practice, nursing a sprained ankle. Sophomore Alex Edwards made hisa first high school start and did a fine job in directing the Panther attack which consisted mostly of fullback Marcu Booker who carried 19 times in the first half alone, on the way to a 163 yard rushing night. He wuld score in the second to knot the game at 7-7.

Sharp returned to the field in the second half and Lewis County exploded! They had 165 yards rushing in the third period and scored twice to make it 21-7. They tallied again early in the fourth to go up 28-7 with Sharp rushing for 97 yards on 9 carries in just over a quarter of play.

Edwards returned to the field in the fourth and scored himself on a nifty option run to make it 35-7. The Panthers got much more production from the supporting running backs tonight with 105 yards on 13 carries... Another bright spot is new place kicker Carlos Juerta who was a perfect five for five in extra points.

This was a much more Lewis County type game, controlling the line of scrimmage, running the football with great effectiveness and using several weapons to open up the game..... Much improvement since the first three games, in my opinion!

Defense continues to impress. Bent a little but never borke with the exception of the second play of the game. Pass defesne is really improving. Team seems to be improving each week, which obviously, is nice to be able to say.
