Results from the Scottsboro Super Duals (AL) are posted on Alabama Wrestling.

Baylor came in 2nd out of 6 teams. Best bout of the day was the last bout of the day --- Parkview (GA) wins 33-23 over Baylor.....and it came down to the final match to decide it. Good wrestling! Thank you to all to the teams that came!

Hope to see you all next year. Don't forget...due to next year being a 'leap year', Christmas will fall on a Saturday (the traditional Saturday for the Super Duals). They are looking at scheduling it next year for the Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2004) following Christmas weekend. Mark your calendars!

Good luck to all of you with the rest of your season!

BayouBear,

Look again. May be hard to follow, but this might help (hope it doesn't cloud things):

The results aren't laid out by rounds, but rather by mats. They wrestled on 3 mats. Scottsboro (host team) wrestled on Mat 1 for all 5 of their matches. Woodland's coach is a Scottsboro alum, so they wrestled their first 4 matches on Mat 2 (5th match, had to move to Mat 1 vs. Scottsboro). All others had to shuffle, but mainly Baylor and Parkview took turns on Mat 3.

Regarding individuals, Chase Cuthbertson is at 103, and twin brother Kyle is at 112. Chase went 5-0. Kyle went 4-1 (lost to C. Manson of Baylor).

Tyler Osborn (Hoover, 125) didn't make the trip. With this time of year, it could be any number of reasons (family obligations, illness, injury, academic, discipline, etc.). I would assume it had to do with family. Sam Thompson (Hoover, 130) didn't make the trip either, so my 2nd guess would be illness since they were both out and are mat room partners.

dragonwrestler,

There isn't a 4xer on Scottsboro's team.....yet. Michael is a 3xer and a junior. He is on his way to being a 4xer this year if all goes well --- and possibly a 5xer next season. He was sitting out with a (re)injury. His toughest match this weekend would have been Stromie of Parkview. Other than that, he may have bumped up to wrestle Clapp of Woodland, but that's just a guess on my part. With us (Alabama) having the notoriety for THE shortest season, it wasn't worth him risking further injury with our season already past the midpoint. Trust me, Michael was more disappointed than anyone that he wasn't going to wrestle. He should be back in a week or two.

    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
    • Going to grundle Troy Fleming?
    • I agree I don't think it will go to trial either, but I feel like that will be because no judge would deem this to warrant a law suit... If the school board settles, they loose and all coaches and schools loose too.
