Thanks coacht for the answer. The big reason alot of people don't come to ball games is because of the few times last year when you had to get there at 5:00 just to get a seat. I know its not like that this year but the gym is so small and parking is terrible. Sometimes its a big hassle to go to the good games because of these problems. Maybe a new gym would help things for everyone.

No, Mrs Braden and Co. are trying to make us a little a factor as possible. They tell us where we can/can not stand or what we can/can not say. Last year, she imposed a ban on all signs at basketball games, because that idiot from Lincoln Co. came over and stole our sign. She should be focused on the game and supporting our team, not what's going on in the stands. We're young adults, treat us like them.

And on another note, I love how my name is mentioned around school by all the teachers. Guess I'm doing something right. And before anyone gets smart, just because my username is wneely doesn't mean it's me doing the posting. A username is nothing more than a string of alphanumeric characters on a computer screen.

Imagine the visiting boys team walking to their bench and seeing a 100 plus member student section just standing there, waiting on them to come sit down. Pretty intimidating, but I guess we'd just rather get lucky by talent and coaching than win the intangibles battle.

Giles County? A new gym? Are you serious? Never in a million years. Maybe when I get my multimillion dollar deal from ESPN, I'll splurge a couple thou on some new facilities, but in the mean time, GC will struggle to get wins. It's absoleutly amazing how much talent has passed through the school system, yet how few state championships we have.

wneely, your insight of GCHS is very informative. I reside in Giles County, but am not a Bobcat fan. Although from time to time I will catch a GC basketball game just to see some pretty good ball. I know your a student and I think that you state your comments (whether positive or constructive), there always in a respectfull manner. The school spirit that you have is evident and should be followed by others. I believe it is what High School is all about.

Don't let a one horse town bring down the spirit that you have. And don't worry it's not a crime to "show your colors". :D

Yeah, I don't care what people think about me, in all honesty. So if people think I am dumb for supporting our athletic department, then that's great. I went to just about every football game this year as a stat keeper, and sure I wish we could have had some more wins, but I had alot of fun.

I may seem like a nerd or geek, but I'll be the one driving the plush cars while everyone else is stuck in Pulaski. (No offense), but I hope I live in Bristol, CT when I grow up. For those of you who don't know, that's where ESPN's headquarters is located.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
