I am extremely proud to have wrestled for Jim Glasser from 1979-1986 and coached with him from 1992-1995. He is a great coach and a great man. His influence on me helped me make the decision to become a teacher and coach and I am forever grateful.

In addition to the stats provided by Takedown3, you should know that Glasser is the second most successful coach in GA wrestling history. Lee Medwick at Towers H.S. has a record of 527-68-2 (1974-present) while Glasser's record is 502-21-2 (1975-present). (Note that among active coaches, Cliff Ramos is third behind Glasser with a record of 376-60.) Knowing Glasser and the type of program he runs, I like his chances of passing Coach Medwick and becoming the winningest coach in GA history in the next several seasons. (No offense to Coach Medwick.) Go to http://www.georgiawrestling.net/ and scroll down the State Records along the left hand side top learn more.

I am looking forward to the induction ceremony on May 2, 2004, in Atlanta, GA, and I hope that some of his Tennessee friends and coaches (Luther Killian and Jim Morgan in particular) will make the trip to celebrate with him.

PS: Yes, both Glasser and Randy Faires wrestled at OK State before transferring to UTC. In fact, Glasser and I coached Randy's son, Wes, when he was at Lovett.

As a former teammate of Jim’s and assistant coach for him, I remember plenty of stories but should restrict this message for just his accomplishments associated with wrestling. He won three Mid-South Wrestling Championships and two National Prep Championships. After graduating from McCallie, he went to Oklahoma State for one year and then transferred to UTC where he continued his wrestling career under one of his former McCallie coaches, Jim Morgan who is a McCallie graduate and a highly successful head wrestling coach at Baylor. While at UTC, Glasser won three Southern Conference titles and was later inducted into the UTC Hall of Fame.

In addition to his accomplishments as a wrestler and as a coach, he is a dynamic yet humble individual who is constantly seeking the positive in all who are around him and bringing out the very best qualities of those with whom he works. Jim continues to accomplish great things in sports and takes advantage of opportunities to influence many young people. He is a superb role model as a competitor, a teacher, a coach, and as a caring and giving man. Congratulations Jim for another well deserved honor.

A very deserving award, Jim was truly one of the greats of the past. He won the mid-south tournament his Sr. year(1967?) at 185 lb, and then two weeks later he won the Nat'l Preps at 148. He had to drink water to get over the minimum weight of 157 in order to wrestle in the 185 lb class. And as MLK stated, Jim is a class act-contgrats.

    • They did a 10 play series deal instead of down and distance. LC scored twice but if it had been an actual game neither would have mattered because they turned over the ball twice with Sweetwater forcing fumbles both times. LC only scored on the 2nd stringers as well. Defense is looking solid and the offense has a good running back and receiver who did not play last year but made several great catches during the scrimmage, I believe the cats had some key pieces missing with baseball and track still being in season at the time. Considering the wildcats were matched up against a 5A school the cats held their own and forced multiple turnovers while also creating scoring opportunities against the LC defense.

I spent 27 years, faithfully in the United States Military. I don’t know if it was because I am Black or an easy target”
    • I don’t see any of them guys why leave programs to go there with no community backing or anything. Word up here on the hill is davy and veto into it over whose kid should be q b for jr high. Tough times in tc hope it all changes with a new face. And once again we aren’t giving up shoulders. And he doesn’t want that crap down there lol
    • They had the toughest bracket last year and no one said a word. You will never make everyone happy. Someone is always complaining.
    • Whoever gets hired I don’t think they will be there long, they’ll get ran out of town because they can’t win a tough region with a pee wee team.
